Our history curriculum offers children a coherent knowledge and understanding of the past; it provides children with opportunities to look at artefacts and to ask questions about what the past was like. From EYFS to Year 6 children look at progressive timelines, placing themselves within this to gain an understanding about the previous periods of time and the changes that have occurred.
The curriculum has been designed to provide children with knowledge and understanding about the history of the United Kingdom, including our local area, and that of the wider world. We intend to create children who are inquisitive about the past and who understand that each era is different from the next, whilst building their understanding of society.

The Orchard Community is a Stoke on Trent based Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). We currently have 7 academies in our MAT, consisting of 5 Primary Schools and 2 Special Schools. In addition to these, we also have one associate member school. Our Head Office is at Watermill School in Stoke-on-Trent. For further information about the Trust and our vision please read the statement entitled 'OCT Vision Statement' below.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Our school motto is 'Working together for a brighter future.' We recognise that we all need to work in partnership to make sure this happens; teachers, support staff, governors, parents/carers and pupils.
The school is a part of the Orchard Community Trust head office: Watermill School, ST6 6JZ - full details at: http://orchardct.org.uk/. Our main forms of contact are ParentMail and ClassDojo - if you are a parent and are not yet signed up to these then please pop in to the office. If, as parents of a pupil attending this school, you require a paper copy of the information on this website we shall provide this free of charge.
