Welcome to Brighstone C.E. Aided Primary School, a small school in a village community. This website is intended to help you know more about the life and work of our school, and how we work together to provide a rich, stimulating, happy and caring environment for children. Our school is situated in an idyllic village on the beautiful south west coast of the Isle of Wight.
Ours is a happy school, where children of all ages work and play together cooperatively. Our school caters for children from 4 - 11 years old, with an onsite pre-school for children from birth to school age. The school is small enough for each child to feel at home, surrounded by friendly and familiar faces throughout the school day.

Services
At the end of the summer term in 2020 we shared our new vision statement with everyone. This was written after gathering feedback from staff, governors and children, as well as from feedback in parent surveys. A vision statement 'seeks to inspire and give direction to all stakeholders (staff, children, parents, governors and the wider community).
The Headteacher, the teaching staff and the SENDCo also have subject leader roles, including English, Maths, Science, RE, RSHE, Music, Geography and History. Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school.
Our day at Brighstone starts at 8.25 am when our pupils arrive. For some, the school is only a short walk away, others arrive by County bus service or taxi. Registration takes place at 8.30 am and there is daily Collective Worship. Core subjects such as English, Guided Reading, Phonics, Spellings, Maths and Science are taught in the morning, with a 15 minute playtime break.
Our hope is to share up to date information with you around our school's approaches in supporting wellbeing and mental health for all of our pupils, parents, governors and staff. Now, more than ever, the need to promote positive wellbeing is paramount. Wellbeing is a state of being comfortable, happy and healthy.
We are always happy to meet with parents/carers or other members of the family to discuss any concerns or worries they may have. Our Family Liaison Officer (FLO) and Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) is Mrs Melissa Jones.
Mrs Jones can offer advice and guidance on a range of issues that could affect families including financial, behavioural and emotional difficulties and also supporting children within school with their emotional wellbeing.Mrs Jones can support families in school or can signpost families to outside agencies that may be able to offer additional, specialised support.
