We are a large primary school in the city of Newport. Our school motto statements is Living and Learning in Harmony. This is central to the work that we do in our school. We have children from a wide range of different countries with over 40 different home languages in our school. We celebrate diversity and value the rich cultural influences that our families bring to our school community.

As Chair of Governors, I hope you are able to use the information contained throughout the website to discover a little about what we believe is a strong, vibrant and active school. The community of Maindee Primary are extremely proud of the achievements and successes of all its pupils, staff and parents alike.
Schools in Wales receive a Pupil Development Grant (PDG) to help tackle the effects of poverty on attainment, reduce inequality and remove barriers. Employ teaching assistants to deliver intervention to vulnerable and more able and talented pupils (MAT). Employ teaching assistants to deliver Early Intervention programmes in communication and Literacy and Numeracy.
At Maindee Primary School we believe that educating our children about being safe on-line is very important. As part of our curriculum all children from Foundation Stage to Year Six follow our E-safety Scheme of Work focusing on identifying some of the risks about being on-line and how to keep themselves safe.
School Uniform is compulsory. All items of school uniform can be obtained from the 'Uniform Shop' in Newport Town Centre and Macey Sports on Caerleon Road. All items of clothing must be clearly marked with your child's name. Girls:- Blue and White gingham dress or White polo shirt with the school logo and a grey skirt.
School meals are managed by Chartwells catering not school and payment for school meals is paid to ParentPay. All our menus are developed to be compliant with the Welsh Assembly Appetite for Life Standards which ensures that in each weekly cycle there is a balance of the 14 key nutrients for growth.
