Kiddlywinks was set up in 2003 by Karen James. Since then, Kiddlywinks has forged a national reputation of excellence and has become one of the finest childcare providers in the UK, gaining several national awards and "Outstanding" status in their Ofsted inspections, twice at Kiddlywinks Penrith and during its first Ofsted inspection at The Meadows, Redhills.

Our ethos is to gently nurture children by learning through play, encouraging natural curiosity and promoting high levels of self-esteem.
Play allows children to use their imagination while developing their thoughts, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. Dr. Maria Montessori, a leading pioneer, called play "the work of the child".
At Kiddlywinks we recognise the impact that being outdoors can have on children's learning and development. Whether within the boundaries of our local town, or out in the rural wilds, there are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the outside every day.
Each nursery has its own unique outdoor area and access to natural spaces a short journey beyond its doors which allow children to have positive learning experiences in all weathers, throughout the changing seasons.Outdoor play and outdoor learning are the cornerstones of what we do at Kiddlywinks Nursery.

At Kiddlywinks we are passionate about using mealtimes to support and educate children in developing healthy lifestyles. Our team aim to ensure that children are provided with opportunities to develop their knowledge and independence to make healthy choices in our endeavour to continue to provide children with strong foundations for good health and nutrition for the future.
At each nursery our practitioners in the room are baby specialists and operate a 1:3 ratio. Our Baby Rooms are spacious and carefully planned so that our children are nurtured and provided with a safe, calm and responsive atmosphere to develop positive attachments and form their first relationships with other adults and peers and this reinforces and develops key attachments which are vital for their personal, social and emotional development.
