I am delighted to introduce you to our new informative website and to invite you to discover more about life in St. Mary's Primary School. St Mary's is situated in the townland of Derrytrasna, on the southern shore of Lough Neagh. In our school we are committed to providing an excellent all round education for every child entrusted to our care. We aim to provide a caring school environment where each individual child is encouraged to respect themselves, others in the school community and the wider community.
Services
In St Mary's Primary School we aim to provide a Catholic education, which is person centred which promotes the dignity; self esteem and full development of each child. We believe this will enable our children to maximise their individual potential for academic, spiritual, personal, emotional and social development.
Our P6/7 classes work together and in close co-operation with other year groups to ensure that all children in St. Mary's Primary School we receive a broad and balanced curriculum. Our P6/7 year is busy and we are offered a wide range of learning opportunities both in and outside school. We are very excited to take part in the JDO programme and will be collaborating with children from other countries.
You might be struggling to keep up with the things your child is doing online, you might wonder whether what they are doing is safe, and you might also be thinking how can I be as good a parent online as I am offline? Talk to your child about what they're up to online. Be a part of their online life; involve the whole family and show an interest.
Accelerated Reader is a powerful tool designed to meet the individual reading needs of every pupil. It is most effective when the school and home work together to promote individual reading. Pupils take a reading assessment called a "STAR TEST". This is a computerised reading test which is used to identify the pupils reading age.
