Furzedown is a friendly, happy and stimulating place to learn. We have a strong sense of community and we ensure that our children feel safe and nurtured. Above all we want our children to have a variety of experiences during their time with us, to be willing to try new things without fear of failure and to become independent, confident and open minded young people.

In line with other schools, we are encouraging you to collect your children on time and leave promptly. Furzedown School Street - Furzedown Primary School has worked with Wandsworth council to become a School Street. A School Street is designed to reduce the number of vehicles around the school, providing a safer environment for children travelling to and from school.
Services
We aim to make this a school where children of all abilities and backgrounds are given the skills to explore, investigate and learn exciting new things for themselves.

Our school is a place where: children feel valued; the whole community promotes positive interpersonal relations; the thrill of learning means pupils want to find out more; everyone has the opportunity to explore and develop their strengths and participate in new experiences; pupils care about and take responsibility for making our school even better; children are secure and happy and they have positive relationships with peers and adults.
A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils' curiosity to know more about the past. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people's lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
The school reflects the community it is part of, with children coming from a wide range of backgrounds. This diversity is celebrated as a real strength of the school. The school is organised into 8 year groups, Nursery - Year 6 with two classes in each year group. Key stages one and two have 3 teachers assigned to every year group whilst EYFS have an additional teacher across the phase.
1. Schools must admit looked after children and all children whose statement of SEN or EHC Plan names the school. 2. All schools must clearly set out how children will be admitted and explain what happens if there are more applications than places. 3. Admission authorities must not take account of reports from previous schools about children's past behaviour, attendance, attitude or achievement.
School governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies. Furzedown has 10 full Governing Body members drawn from the staff, parents and local community.
