Services
Our menu is an expression of our local food culture and a showcase of the region's best produce. Our menu uses local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible, prepared sensitively and skilfully by our chefs. This includes seafood from our reliable high quality supplier, meat from nearby farms and locally shot game, which features prominently during the season.
Visitors to the Cotswolds want to experience an authentic slice of British hospitality, and we provide that by sticking to the time-honoured traditions that make British pubs famous the world over. Stools at the bar, hand-pulled pints, 2 log fires and a Landlord with over 20 years of banter and wisdom to share.
Based just outside of the popular Cotswold town of Burford in the beautiful village of Great Barrington, we offer 7 luxury bedrooms. Our rooms are based in the pub itself, as well as in our purpose-built River Mews development. All rooms offer great facilities and comfort and most provide fantastic views across the glorious cotswold countryside that surrounds us.
Perfectly situated, The Fox makes for a wonderful base to explore the Cotswolds, never more than 20 minutes from all the main attractions. Although arriving in the Cotswolds is never a chore, it is made all the more special when you drive down through the village to see the Fox nestled by the Windrush river.
I am getting my social media stuff together this year. I want to keep you posted about my activities - well some of them anyway! I have talked my long suffering owner Paul into having my own web page, if I promise to stop climbing out the window! Hope you like it. Computers have passed me by really, I am having to get this dictated because I obviously can't type.

Called in here on spec on Tuesday lunchtime for a light lunch, without first checking reviews (big mistake). Ordered a pint of BB which was a bit off (cloudy and yeasty), but thought we'd struggle through it.
Our starters came - tomato and red pepper soup, with buttered bread. The soup had obviously been heated in a microwave, but was hot and tasted good. I ate half my bread and some soup, at which point my wife discovered that her bread has green mould on it! And not just a small spot, but two big bits of furry mould.
Needless to say we cancelled our mains order and left. I won't be stopping

Lovely quiet pub by the gentle River Windrush. Two car parks. Full English breakfast to set you up for the day and return to home made food in the evening - all good. Cosy traditional bar with log fire. Comfortable room. A perfect location to explore the rest of the Cotswolds. Accommodation needs some TLC though.

Went for dinner.
The lasagne was served with 2 salads and chips. Tasty but rather sweet for my liking.
The other dish was cauliflower with cheese, also served a salad and chips.
Not outstanding but good wholesome food. Good efficient service.
Lovely location next to the Windrush River on its way to Burford.
Take the opportunity to go for a walk and visit the Barringtons as well.

We dropped in for a drink and potentially some lunch but we were left very underwhelmed. It seems to be very tired and looks as if nobody has even bothered to clean or sweep up since lockdown. As you enter the premises from the road you are met with the remains of the bonfire where the rubbish is burnt.
The men's toilet has a radiator that is completely and utterly covered in rust with broken tiles.
Oh and the donningtons beer was flat. So lovely position but in a sad state.

Overpriced! Tatty!
We arrived to find the main pub bar was closed and everything was being run in a tent in the rear grounds. No mention of this when booking. Welcome was underwhelming. Room was nice, but signs of poor cleaning, dirty shower base.
Outside area was covered in cigarette ends on floor, and in the morning the previous nights drinks glasses were still stacked up on outside tables. Food was decent, but expensive for pub grub. Breakfast nice, but dining room was very grubby.
All in all expensive rooms, poor delivery. Not worth £150 for one night for a room. Felt ripped off. Good project

Very strange visit to The Fox Inn this Sunday. A beautiful pub set in a stunning location, we had high hopes for a lovely Sunday meal but came away feeling rather underwhelmed and disappointed. The food was distinctly average - the chicken pie was quite good but the ham egg and chips was pretty poor, and the pricing reflects the location but is way behind other pubs in the region in my opinion. Service was ok, when I asked for a glass of water with my meal I was welcomed with a bit of a huff and received a plastic cup with zero smile. I'm not asking for silver service, but feeling welcome is expected

Very friendly staff and lovely place.
Accomodation isn't great. They are old barn conversions.
We had a double room which was two singles pushed together and the floor was uneven I ended up sleeping diagonally. The curtains let so much light in at 6am waking me up and there was an emergency exit light on which made the light so bright at night. Also there was no head board which made me catch my hand on twice in the night but I guess I should have seen it which it being so bright. Bathroom was nice with a good shower but no hand soap for some reason.

It's really nice location. How ever seems like run out of ideas... Dark bar where bar should be inviting... Found it really odd bar staff running to back room for pint pouring... The ale was flat. I ordered 3 different lagers.. I ended up buying bottles.... Young barmaid was really friendly and run bit of feet but she was still smiling. I would of never guessed the landlord was the land lord
