At Hartwell our children are at the centre of everything we do. As a Church of England Primary School, we pride ourselves on our children making excellent progress and achieving high standards in education through a creative and engaging curriculum, with our distinctively Christian vision and associated values to guide everything we do.
It is with this vision that pupils at our school achieve highly in all that they do and are well prepared for their next steps in their learning and life journey. Our staff, parents and governors work in collaboration to provide a safe, caring and happy environment in which children can thrive. Our high moral values are always at the heartbeat of everything we do at Hartwell.

Our main aim in Class R is for the children to have a happy and exciting start to school life. Within the classroom we follow the Early years foundation stage curriculum which recognises that children learn best through play and active learning. The children learn skills, acquire new knowledge and demonstrate their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.
In Year 1 children make the transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that children have had in Reception. Learning through play continues to be an important part of the school day, and children are gradually eased into more formal learning as the year goes on so that they remain motivated and eager learners.
We understand in Year 2 that working hard and having fun go hand in hand and that's what we do. We cover maths, reading, writing, phonics, handwriting and spellings in the morning and then in the afternoons we specialise on our topic work. The topics in Class 2 really excite and engage the children.
This is the year when children enter Key Stage two and lots of exciting new challenges await them when they arrive! In Key Stage 2 the children are encouraged to be more independent. The children are expected to bring in their home school diaries, reading books and Homework books taking responsibility for them on a daily basis.
In Year 4 children enter their second year in Key Stage 2. They are encouraged to become even more independent in their learning in a fun, supportive and creative atmosphere. During the year children are encouraged to reflect on their own learning and progress asking, 'What did I do well?' and 'How can I improve next time?'

One of the best schools in the district! Many opportunities for children to learn, no bullying and distractions and excess behavior in the classroom like other CPS schools. Many well-rounded teachers, diverse, attentive, and very clean people and atmosphere. School is diveses in students and academics also. Many opportunities from teachers to parents to engage in School activities, fundraisers or fun dances, and good old school teaching environments like that. Modern, but old values and ageless virtue. The Hartwell I remember when I was a kid.
