I should like to extend a very warm welcome to you on behalf of the Governing Body and staff of St Augustine's Catholic Primary School. I hope you will enjoy reading about the work and achievements of the children and that you will take the opportunity to send us your thoughts or comments on any matter related to the school.
Linked with our text 'The Balaclava Story' by George Layton, we discussed how George, the main character, would feel at various points in the story. In Geography, we are focusing on various countries located in eastern Europe. Building on our previous lesson, where we named countries found in eastern Europe, today we developed our understanding of 6-figure grid references to locate a set of countries.

Our Mission Statement echoes the words of Pope Francis. Our faith must be shared and passed on so that everyone may know Jesus. Jesus' message of love is not just for some, it is for everyone, and Pope Francis urged all young people not to be afraid of bringing Christ into every area of life. We are a Catholic school and in everything we do we seek to live out the values of Jesus Christ.
St Augustine's is a Catholic primary school which seeks to live out the values of Jesus Christ. We promote these values by our words and deeds, and Catholic doctrine and practice therefore permeates every aspect of the school's activity. We provide a Catholic curriculum, which is broad and balanced, recognising that every pupil is unique and is created in the image of God (Gen 1:27).
I am a pharmacist and am very interested in healthy living in order to prevent health issues in later life. As part of my job I have to be aware of potential safeguarding issues. I have four adult children, who all attended St. Augustine's and two grandchildren, the youngest of which is currently a pupil at the school.
The Government has allocated funding to improve the quality of provision of physical education and sport in primary schools for all pupils. The funding is ring-fenced which means that it can only be spent on PE and sport provision in school. We are held accountable for how we use the additional funding to support pupils' progress and participation in PE and school sport.
Each year we receive extra funding from the government to help to improve the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as their peers. The pupil premium grant is designed to allow us to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the results they achieve.
