St Mary's Catholic Primary School
As a small school, we provide a happy family atmosphere in which each child is valued as an individual. Our classes are small, so our children receive a great deal of individual attention. This enables them to thrive and develop to their full potential. We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents and encourage parents and other family members to be involved in school when they are able to.

St Mary's is a Catholic school and so we seek to live out the values of Jesus Christ. Jesus told us to "Love one another as I have loved you" and this reminds us every day to go the extra mile for the children in our care. We emphasise the need for good manners, politeness and thinking of others first.

St. Mary's is an outstanding, rural primary school situated in the beautiful surroundings of Claughton-on-Brock, Lancashire. The school was founded in 1877. The school and church are at the heart of the local community and some of our children are the second and third generations of their families to attend.
Here you will find a range of resources to support online learning. Although many activities are set on Seesaw, feel free to delve into some of the additional resources here on the website. Hi everyone, listed below are a range of suggested websites for children to use. These are just some additional sites that we know are great and fun/educational for children to use.
The aim of our curriculum is for children to be genuinely interested in what is being taught, for all to be motivated and fully access well sequenced lessons that are engaging and accessible, yet ambitious for all. Through our curriculum offer, we want our children to be inspired and to discover God given talents and passions they didn't know existed.
As a school, we follow Letters and Sounds from Reception Class and use Bug Club books to embed phonics. We teach rigorous and systematic teaching of synthetic phonics from the beginning of Reception, starting with the easiest sounds, and progressing to the most complex, reading and writing simple words and tricky words along the way.
A situation of remote learning is never ideal, but we aim to continue to provide the same curriculum offer through virtual means. Teachers will create teaching videos that follow our curriculum cycle and the same topics that we would cover in the classroom together. You will still receive curriculum learning booklets and you will have a daily structure of lessons that you can log and access through Seesaw.
