We aim to provide all our children with the high-quality education and enrichment opportunities that they need, in order to develop the knowledge and skills (academic and personal) to take them into their next stage of education. Teaching and learning is our core purpose and the main focus for all that we do.
History in the National Curriculum can be summed up in just a few statements: ordering events in time; finding differences and similarities; writing and talking about the past; using different sources for information; asking and answering questions. All classes in each year group will do all of these at some point and aim to link 'then' with 'now'.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, both physical and emotional, of every pupil both inside and outside of the school premises. We implement a whole-school preventative approach to managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring that the well-being of pupils is at the forefront of all action taken.
At Brooklands Primary School and Nursery we believe that every pupil has the right of equal access to a broad and balanced curriculum. We consider it essential that the curriculum is presented in a supportive and stimulating atmosphere, in which each child is valued, inspired to have high aspirations and be equipped with the tools and experiences necessary to prepare them for their futures.
We created Maritime around an idea - that education should be meaningful, that children should love learning, and that everyone who works with us should feel they make an impact. We believe in preparing children for a future we can't even imagine yet - through the life skills in our entrepreneurial curriculum.
