My Movie 3 - Medium Well done to all of the Nursery Children who have graduated and are ready to transition into Reception! They have grown so much and I am very proud of all their achievements. Over the last few weeks Year 6 have been learning how to use bowling, batting and fielding skills to play cricket successfully and today we played a full game!

This week in our science lesson, Year 5 have been investigating air resistance. We designed and tested parachutes with the intention of making the most effective parachute possible. We thought about which variables would become our control variables and which. Blaydon West Primary School is a very friendly school where children are encouraged to become confident, caring and articulate to enable them to reach their full potential.

Senior leaders are not afraid to invite external scrutiny and support to continually improve their effectiveness. We are extremely proud of the progress our children make not just at the end of each Key Stage but across our school as a whole. Nationally 64% of children passed the required national standard in reading, writing and mathematics combined.
As you may be aware the Government have allocated a significant amount of money (1.25 billion) to schools across the country to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals, those children looked after by the Local Authority and children of armed service personnel.
At Blaydon West Primary School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of the children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of our children.
