For a while it was her and Jan, dispensing to local office folk and building up a patient base that has stuck with us, in many cases, from day one. He worked alongside Philippa until the lockdown of 2021 when Philippa sort of settled into retirement/Mark inadvertently staged a coup! The earrings sum up her attitude to retirement.!
This list will be pretty much everything we have in stock (once we've finished!) but the frames we stock change a lot. We wanted everyone to have a place they could come to and get an idea of our frames from the comfort of home or a coffee shop but it's always best to come in and try some on with help from Mark or Sam.
We mainly supply lenses from Seiko and we are very happy to be partnered with them. They make excellent lenses and their lens designs are constantly evolving as well as their coatings being really good quality. But, being an independent optician we are able to source the most suitable lens designs and materials for you from a wide range of manufacturers such as Essilor or Zeiss.
We mainly test every Tuesday & Wednesday. There are the odd weeks where this will differ, due to holidays and what not, but we'll try to keep you in the loop when that happens on our Facebook or Instagram pages. I'd made the mistake of going to Specsavers and felt like I was on a hasty conveyor belt from front door to eye test to glasses salesman. I then did some research before getting my eyes tested at Bramley Pope and they were way better - friendly, proper testing, time to answer questions, etc. Highly recommended independent local business.

I arrived at this practice when unexpectedly I lost a screw out of my glasses in the street where they are situated, many years ago. I was so impressed by their attitude I used them that year for my eye test. I have been their customer ever since. They are excellent and you get expert service, they recognise you if you call in unexpectedly, nothing would persuade me to change. They are efficient and go far beyond the standard you would expert.

I had a great experience with Bramley Pope. I had an appointment to get my eyes tested for the first time in a long time and they were incredibly professional. The test itself was easy and felt quite safe. The team at Bramley Pope then also helped me pick out and fit my glasses which was really nice. Very friendly and professional people and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or visit again in the future.

I just went to the shop with a detached branch that needed to get fixed. I had no appointment and the glasses came from France, but they managed to fix them successfully, very quickly and with a very nice welcome. I will definitely visit this shop again for my future needs and I warmly recommend them.

After years of using a well known high street brand and having experienced hit and miss customer service, I have switched all my eye care to Bramley Pope.
You can not fault the service. It’s super friendly and relaxed. Time is taken to explain how your prescription has altered, to finding the right solution for you whether it is new lenses or going through the entire stock to find a pair of glasses that will fit.
