Avondale Guest House York is just outside the area of the city walls on the south side of the city so it makes an ideal location for visiting York's historic city centre. There is easy access to the guest house by car from the outer ring road which in turn can be easily accessed from the UK Motorway network.
All our rooms at Avondale Guest House York have en suite facilities, an alarm clock, remote TV, a wealth of visitor information and a well stocked hospitality tray. I am happy to provide special teas, wine glasses and cooler, just relax and leave it to us. A homely, comfortable and private retreat from a busy day out in York.

Booked here after reading the reviews and I must say I wasn't disappointed! Room and en suite were nice and clean. Parking was a bonus, which was helpful as the car parks in York can be busy and expensive. Location of the guest house is great as you can walk into the centre in less than 15 minutes. Breakfast was really good and you have a choice to either have it at 8am or 9am. Overall a really good experience, would definitely book again!

We stayed 2 nights in the ‘Primrose’ room which was as described on booking.com ‘a small double room with ensuite’.
The room was very clean, had plugs next to the bed to charge your phone and two small bedside cabinets for storage.
Our host Carole was friendly and knowledgable about York, she suggested several paid and free activities.
Breakfast was served with a smile by Wendy and Carole was very flexible making whatever you requested.
I felt Carole went above and beyond buying vegan butter to accommodate a dairy intolerance.
Top tip - book direct not though booking.com for the best

Best place to accommodate yourself during your stay in York! I spend holiday in Avondale back in 2015 and surely it will be always my no. 1 choice if coming to York again. Great breakfasts that will give you enough energy to explore York and Yorkshire for whole day, clean and comfy rooms and Carole the owner is the best! Avondale is, as one of previous reviewers said, far enough to give you quiet, yet close enough to city centre and railway station.

I booked Avondale Guest House as it had won an award for best breakfast. I'm so glad I did as I had beautifully cooked poached salmon each morning with egg and toast. My room was clean and comfortable and I was made to feel very welcome. Also, not very far to walk to the walls and from there, the rest of York itself. If I ever return to York, I know where to book. Thank you!
