As a vegan, my boyfriend and I found this place awesome. Really good menu for veggies. I've never had Sri-Lankan food before, but definitely would again. I was ill when we went, so didn't feel up to eating a lot, but I've found myself craving it right now.
We went with his parents and ordered a fair bit which we all shared.
We chose curries from the vegetable menu- went for the butternut squash curry (which was cooked with coconut milk), mushroom curry (which was slightly less coconutty, not sure why as it was off the same part of the curry menu), coconut sambal, garlic and lemon

I went here with a group of 12 people for a birthday dinner. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food but not love it.
I ordered the mango salad and the spinach and lentil vegetable curry. The mango salad was NOT good and I've had A LOT of mango salads in my lifetime. The curry was tasty but not amazing.
Pros:
- Something new if you've never experienced Sri Lankan food before
- Atmosphere is very intimate (not a lot of tables and low light)
- Servers were extremely helpful and friendly
- Food and wine prices are reasonable for a place like this
Cons:
- Restaurant is small and tables are

In a city that's full of ethnic dining establishments its refreshing to have a restaurant serving such an unusual cuisine as Ski Lankan. Its can be found a little of the beaten track in hove, down a side street off of Church Road and is s must for any foodies in the area. It's a difficult cuisine to describe but if you like Thai and or Indian than your sure to enjoy Moonstone. It's definitely worth a trip out of the centre of town to enjoy an authentic cuisine so rarely available in the UK.

Moonstone is a real rarity of a place, primarily because it's the only Sri-Lankan restaurant in Brighton, and the first I've ever been to! The food is really interesting, although Moonstone itself is a bit of a design nightmare. Still, you go to restaurants for the food, and Moonstone definitely doesn't disappoint here, serving up unique and delicious food for very reasonable prices.
Moonstone is a little bit out of town, buried in some of the smaller side-streets out in Hove. Once you get there, the outside look, as well as the decor once you get indoors, may put many a customer

I'm a bit of woosy when it comes to hot and spicy curries so this place was perfect for me as everything is round about the medium to mild mark. I've only been just the once but really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was really down to earth and the staff dead friendly.
There's only a delicate difference between Sri Lankan and Indian food in my opinion but I think I prefer it as I can taste the flavours a lot easier without my head being blown off by too much spice.
Really reasonable prices here too for the food and the wine.

Moonstone is a proper authentic Ski Lankan restaurant, never having eaten it before i was dragged there by a pal who spent a year in Ski Lanka and we were both very impressed. The food involved alot of seasoned curry, noodles and seafood dishes all of which were amazing. Ski Lankin as a cuisine is difficult to describe but if you like Thai and/or Indian food then this it's sure to be a winner for you.
If your a foody thats into your ethnic foods or just looking for something different then Moonstone is the place for you.
