Oldfield Park Pre-school
However spaces often open up leading up to September so please contact us with your details to add your child to our waiting list for 2021-2022. Our mission is "to provide a purposeful and caring learning environment, which can be accessed by the whole community". For over 35 years a Playgroup and later a Pre-school provided care and early education for 3-5 years olds and later 2 year olds.

Over this time, the nature of pre-schools and the regulations involved have changed, but the provision still remains. Today, Oldfield Park Pre-School is a registered charity, which is run by a committee of volunteers. It is registered both with Ofsted and the local authority (BANES) who provide the majority of our funding via the 'Early Years Entitlement'.
Services
We are open Monday to Friday for a total of 27.5 hours per week. We have two options for sessions offered: a shorter morning session that doesn't include lunch time and a full day session that does include lunch time. 9.30 am - 11.40 am - Activity time, which may include: cooking, Outdoor Adventures, small group/ adult directed activity, physical play - outside where possible.
All attending children's families will receive termly invoices from us, these list your funded hours entitlement, private fees charged, contribution owed and any additional learning experiences eg. Our basic costs are primarily met by the 'Early Years Entitlement' grant we receive from BANES. The rate we receive from BANES for 3 and 4 year olds is currently 4.14 per hour.
As a parent/carer you can access your child's learning journey via the web page or an App that is available through your App store. You can find a step by step guide on downloading and using the App on Android here and on IOS here. You can access the website by following here. You can also add your own photographs and comments of things that your child takes part in at home or out and about.
We welcome children and families from all social, cultural and religious backgrounds. We value the diversity of family structures and lifestyles. We aim to create a rich and a diverse pre school environment, to reflect the social and cultural diversity in our community. It is our intention to make our pre-school genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.
Uniform for the children is not compulsory however there are many positives to considering allowing your child to wear one. It allows them to be familiar with the idea of wearing a uniform for when they start school.

For children who have older siblings the younger children feel grown-up to have their own special sweatshirts to wear to Pre-School, and for parents it means that you have a top that your child can wear to pre-school that can be used for messy play, therefore saving the number of clothes that get potentially ruined in the process of the fun activities we do at pre-school.
