What a disappointing Christmas staycation. We had previously stayed at the Lancrigg and enjoyed the location and warm hospitality of the owners and staff, which is why we decided to return, for Christmas this time. The room price was rather steep, and didn’t include cleaning; covid restrictions were sited as the reason for not cleaning the rooms during the stay; prior to our stay at the Lancrigg, we had visited another hotel and they didn’t seem to have any issues with keeping the rooms cleaned and it felt very safe for staff and guests? As part of our stay at the Lancrigg we had Christmas

This may sound a bit rambling apologies but here we go!
We have just the most amazing weekend at the Lancrigg with a party of 15! Due to the numbers Paul decided to close the hotel off to other bookings we effectively had the run of the place.
It was decided we would all eat together so for breakfast a full English this was provided on platters so you could pick and choose what you wanted the breakfast was hot and well prepared even after the power cut one morning when they had 20 minutes to get everything cooked & served to the starving masses! Thrown into the mix our 1 Veggie was well looked

Such nice people! I was just a dozy passing walker when I realized I had forgotten my water bottle. They gave me a large bottle of soda water for free. Beautiful place, too...

Always stop by here for a coffee on the way down from Helm Crag, lovely place, lovely staff, you can also park just down the road a little and pay at the hotel as you pass it on your way up. There is also a play area for the kids which is set in it's own garden area.

We recently paid The Lancrigg a visit with the intention of using it as a base to walk Helm Crag and enjoy some post walk lunch and support a local business. The decision was primarily based on the website clearly stating that the hotel has a free public car park. It does not. While £6 is reasonable for a full days parking, the incorrect information on the website and the unapologetic staff certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.

Must be the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. Beautiful room, such attentive hosts doing everything they could to help us, breath taking views and an amazing breakfast. We were celebrating a special day and the host even popped a Prosecco to our door that evening to wish us well.
We’ve traveled much of the world and stayed in some incredible places and this is way up there. The hosts and their attention to detail are what made it.
