The Princess Of Wales
Taking pride along Lea Bridge Road, overlooking the River Lea, The Princess of Wales is a gem not to be missed. With our beautiful beer garden, perfect for lazy Sundays, an ample beer and wine selection and the best menu in Clapton, featuring innovative, homegrown recipes - there's no better place to be.

It's a home away from home, giving you the feeling of being in the idyllic countryside, rather than the heart of Hackney! Explore our On Tap app to order to table, split and pay the bill and receive treats on us. Take a look at what we're up to, ranging from Sunday roasts to dates for your diary this Summer.
Services
We pride ourselves on using fresh, premium & seasonal ingredients and Chef has curated a brilliant Summer menu to reflect that. Whether you're after a traditional British pub classic, a vegan dish or something a little lighter, we cater to all taste-buds. We also serve a cracking Sunday Roast, the best in Hackney!
Do chin-dribblin' burgers and bun times sound right up your street? We're talking burgers made with only the best British beef, fully loaded and cooked to perfection - best with a side a curly fries. Introducing The Sabbath, our burger of the month! Beef patty, Angus rump, slow-cooked ox cheek, crushed carrots and cabbage, topped with a Yorkshire pudding and drippin' in gravy!
Burger Shack is only open on Saturday and Sunday so why not book your slot to avoid disappointment? Choose from our famous Veggie, Streak. In the Princess of Wales you'll find the BEST and biggest Sunday roasts ever! We have a selection of Pork Belly, Beef Striploin, Chicken supreme, root vegetable pie, or a vegan butternut squash.
For something a little more exclusive, our semi-private Snug Bar is a great space for any party! Partly sectioned off from the rest of the pub by our gorgeous fireplace and direct access to an outside area, it's a space that makes you feel completely separate from the rest of the pub while still being in it!

Lunch here was disappointing. Menu looked promising, though went safe with a burger. Looked good enough, but the burger itself lacked any depth or seasoning. Not good for £15 (with fries). Quite a nice spot other than that - decent for drinks!

Here again 😊 Always enjoy visiting this beaut of a pub. Food is delicious, partner had fish and chips which he devoured. I had chunky chips with ketchup & mayo, delicious. I will forever recommend this gem on the river with great atmosphere and decor is regal and gorgeous.

I went to The Princess with my family today. We had a booking elsewhere but that was cancelled suddenly, probably Covid, and so we went down to the princess not really expecting more than a drink, it being a busy pub and us with no booking. Luckily we got a table and then really enjoyed everything. The comfortable atmosphere was cozy and the staff friendly plus we were able to eat and the food was excellent.
We all agreed we were lucky indeed

Went to this beautiful pub with my family for a post Christmas get-together, so glad we did, as you walked through the door you could feel the warm friendly buzz of the place, we were all very hungry so ordered our food straight away, after roughly 15 minutes it arrived, beautify presented, piping hot and absolutely delicious. We all left full and happy and will recommend and be back, thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.

This place is fabulous and very busy. We are excited every time we pop in for a hot drink or a meal. Alongside the canal with the boats and great for a walking exercise. We walk down daily for my health and well-being. But this fabulous place is filled with character and ambience! The seating is great for outside is always fully booked out. The menu is interesting and all drink are there to warm your heart. Good friendly crowds and warm hard working staff. Hurry quick as the seating inside and out go quickly. Lovely comfortable surroundings for the children and pet owners. Good walking tracks and

Fun pub, great roast, dog friendly, we were there when old dirty brassards were playing, which gave it such a wonderful atmosphere. Seating by the canal is good for people watching too!

The princess of Wales is a much quieter place post-lock down. However, the food is still probably the best in the area within the remit of Clapton and around Stoke Newington as well. Good options for vegans and gluten free palates, very good quality food. Staff are truly welcoming, particularly great with the many dogs that visit. Perhaps my only criticism or rather, observation, is that gluten free beer on offer is rather scarce, but that is nothing that cannot be improved on.

Lovely pub by the canal. I went to watch a couple of Euro 2020 games with friends here. Biggest fish I've ever gotten from a fish n chips order. Tasted great as well!

A great pub to enjoy a Sunday lunch in after a long walk along the canal. Friendly service and good food. Good range of beers on tap. Too full up to take on the desserts but they looked great!

Best Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Fantastic food and friendly servers. Vegan cheese cauliflower side was a very pleasant surprise! Great atmosphere and service. Definitely one of my favorite pubs in London!
