Achaneich Properties
Achaneich offers two self catering accommodation units near the village of Spean Bridge. They are set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the Highlands of Scotland and enjoy a peaceful and secluded location above the River Spean between the villages of Spean Bridge and Roy Bridge. Both buildings stand in the grounds of Achaneich, Gaelic for the place of the horses, an historic highland cottage with origins dating back to 1600.

The barn and stables, no longer used for horses, are believed to have been used by General Wade's forces during the Jacobite uprisings in the 18th Century.
Services
The holiday chalet is fully insulated for winter as well as summer self-catering use. It is extremely well equipped and furnished mainly in pine, sleeping 4 people in two comfortable bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin bedded. Continental duvets and bed linen are provided. Please note: The letting week for the Chalet is Saturday to Saturday.
Achaneich has a secluded location above the River Spean. We are just off the A86 Between the villages of Spean Bridge and Roy Bridge and to the west of the small settlement of Inverroy. Look out for our sign on the south side of the road. Quite often we hear that GPS and Satnav systems locate Achaneich up West Tirindrish in Spean Bridge.
Achaneich is ideally placed in the heart of the Highlands - perfect for walking, fishing, climbing, skiing, or plain old sight-seeing. The River Spean at the bottom of the garden is popular with kayakers. The Nevis Range ski and mountain-biking centre on Aonach Mor is 5 miles away. There are plenty of beautiful walks - from the straightforward circuit around the Commando Memorial in Spean itself, to the wonderful parallel roads of Glen Roy.

Beautiful cottages in a secluded location a mile outside Spean Bridge, with Ben Nevis in the background. Owners are absolutely lovely and very welcome. A perfect Highland home for our stay.
