The name is taken from a 70ft waterfall, located a short walk behind the hotel. The Spout is spectacular on its own, but let us not forget the location; some of our rooms offer scenery you can only dream of, with long distance views across the Esk Valley. The surrounding country side is full of walks to lose yourself and days to treasure.
Please note whilst photographs and room description are as accurate as possible they must only be taken as an example of what we offer- as we are continually upgrading our rooms. Whilst Dogs are not permitted in the hotel bedrooms, we do allow them in the Spout Bar and Gardens during our normal serving hours.
With many of Yorkshires finest suppliers on our doorstep our menus are made up of local produce - from fresh Whitby fish to local speciality cheeses. Our Head Chef works tirelessly along side his small, very dedicated team to give the much varied, extremely tasteful and imaginative A la Carte menu.
Our award winning restaurant serves a varied, modern menu. Offering elegant dining in a relaxed setting. Under the watchful eye of our head chef - Andy, his kitchen team produce seasonal menus offering choices for all dietary requirements. We boast an extensive wine list, together with pre-dinner cocktails & aperitifs, finishing with a relaxed night cap.

Food ok. Went just before Xmas 2021. Service was ok, but nothing to shout about. It was the last nights service before shutting for Xmas, maybe the reason for lack of interest from staff?

Is this the world's most homely hotel? I think it might just be....Relaxing here is like slipping tired feet into your favourite pair of old slippers 👍

Great food! Seriously, it was great!
Lovely environment, nice and clean with friendly staff.
Clean rooms, however a little towards the pricey end for what is provided.

Beautiful hotel, friendly & happy staff. The attached pub was cosy & full of character. The hotel is on the path to the Mallyan spout which is a lovely walk, but a walking stick is advisable as the rocks can be slippy.
