Joan is a self- taught groomer and her love of grooming began 15 years ago when she was unable to find a groomer to trim her 2 young Westies (Charlie & Sammy) to breed standard. After several unsuccessful trips to the groomer she decided to groom them herself. She was taught the art of hand stripping by a highly reputable and respected breeder and show person of West Highland White Terriers.

Best Friends offers a friendly professional and caring grooming service for your 'Best Friend' who will be groomed in clean, caring and stress free environment. Your pet will be groomed by trained and qualified groomers. All staff regularly attend grooming seminars and events to keep abreast of all the newest grooming techniques and equipment available.
The Best Friends Dog Grooming Academy offers a wide range of dog grooming courses that are suitable for all levels of experience. Courses are limited to a maximum of 3 students on any given day to ensure that you receive our constant attention and supervision. We will teach you all the essential practical skills and knowledge you need to either look after your own pets or run your own successful dog grooming business.
Having discovered Joan I wouldn't take our 3 Westies anywhere else! It's worth the travel from Preston to Runcorn to find someone who knows how to groom Westies, looks after them and actually likes dogs! Lola is really nervous around people she doesn't know and can be aggressive, she doesn't enjoy going to the groomers.

I really couldn’t recommend Best Friends Dog Grooming enough. My dog Jasper had been visiting Joan since he was 12 weeks old and as an anxious dog he was always comfortable going. He would run to the front door… whenever we mentioned Joan ready to go and be pampered. He would always come back home super excited running around the garden and throwing around his toys and that’s how we knew Joan was not only running a groomers but also a loving service for the animals she treats. I couldn’t express enough how grateful I am for Joan and her helping hand. With reasonable prices

Stans nails grow really fast and we could never cut them short without them bleeding. With just a few visits they have managed to get them much shorter. We were so impressed we booked him in for a full pamper. We now have one happy pristine boy. Short nails, trimmed ear hair and the softest coat he's ever had. He's shedding less too which is a major bonus. Highly recommend this place.
