Urban Angel
Urban Angel is back and open daily for sit in and takeaway customers at our cafe in central Edinburgh. We are delighted to be approved for the UK Government's hospitality accreditation scheme 'We're Good To Go'. The health and wellbeing for our customers, our suppliers, and our team is at the heart of these best practices-and everything we do.

We have a new takeaway menu, available for collection, and you can also now order for delivery with Deliveroo. Right in the heart of Edinburgh, Urban Angel sits in a space that's long been a meeting point for those looking for great food and fantastic coffee, all served in a relaxed atmosphere. For the past 15 years we've been using carefully sourced ingredients to nourish our customers all day, every day.
Services
Urban Angel launched almost 15 years ago with one mission in mind, to offer exciting food using carefully sourced ingredients, in Edinburgh's city centre. Inspired by travels in Australia and New Zealand, Gilly Macpherson wanted to bring fantastic food for everyday eating back to Edinburgh, and in 2004, Urban Angel was born.
An Urban Angel Brunch is an established Edinburgh tradition, feeding hungry shoppers, busy commuters and relaxed weekenders for almost 15 years, and it's now available all day. With carefully sourced ingredients, including bread baked inhouse, see for yourself why our Urban Angel Brunch is the capital's number one.
Within our caf space we have 2 separate rooms which allows for some perfectly secluded corners for quiet, well distanced dining. Urban Angel is the perfect quiet haven to enjoy a delicious lunch or some evening cocktails and nibbles. We have salads and lighter options, and freshly-made juices and smoothies, all available to takeout.
Here at Urban Angel, we take our coffee as seriously as our food - and our careful sourcing means that the last thing you taste is as good as the first. We use beans selected from different roasteries and freshly grind our bespoke blend throughout the day. We have salads and lighter options, and freshly-made juices and smoothies, all available to takeout.
Alongside our extensive menu of tea, coffee, juices, smoothies & soft drinks we have a carefully chosen selection of wine, beer, cider, spirits & cocktails. All are available alongside our breakfast and brunch, lunch and cake and dessert menus. We have salads and lighter options, and freshly-made juices and smoothies, all available to takeout.

We really enjoyed Urban Angel. The food was delicious, good size portions, and both meals were just what you want on a winter morning. My wife had the chorizo benny with Chipotle hollandaise and I had the roast potato haggis hash. Both were lovely. Would highly recommend here for brunch!

Hidden gem. Lovely desserts and excellent service despite the brisk business. They even have an hourglass timer to let you know when the tea is done brewing. The place is also bigger than it looks with more seating at the back.

A favourite place from a previous visit to Edinburgh. Went twice on this trip and was no less impressed this time around. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to next time!

This morning was the second Sunday breakfast I’ve had here. Had one about 3 months ago! The breakfast is fantastic but the thing that makes this place stand out is the staff. Happy, smiling and welcoming - even with masks you can see it in their eyes! Great team of people and will be back again the next time I’m in Edinburgh! Thank you!

Wow very spacious restaurant once you enter- there is more seating to the back! Nice resto for a bit of healthier eating. Ordered the green juice, acai bowl, side of english muffin with sausage and the mushroom toast. Taste wise it was ok, the mushroom toast was too salty, the english muffin needed some butter on the side, the acai bowl was standard, and the green juice was healthy (pleasant but not yum!). Go here for some healthy eating!

Even though it was extremely busy with the foot traffic, the service was attentive and the food came out quickly.
Poached eggs were perfect and the coffee bean was lovely.
Would definitely recommend if you want to start the day with a spot to eat and a cuppa

Truly wonderful brunch location. Perfect prosecco. The husband had delicate poached eggs with runny yolks and organic bacon. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a lovely brioche bun and PERFECT chips.
We will be back again soon.

After seeing pictures on Yelp, I wanted to eat here so badly! Unfortunately we didn't make it here for breakfast so we stopped by early afternoon for a snack. Turns out their kitchen closes early and they didn't serve any hot food so I ended up getting a smoothie bowl. It was good and refreshing but nothing anything too special. Personally, it tasted more banana-y than anything else and not peanut butter. The service was fast (probably since it was 3pm and the kitchen was closed). The WiFi is free but didn't work in the back room where the waitress sat us down.

Well-intentioned staff and aesthetic dining environment. However, the menu was small, unoriginal, and incredibly overpriced.

I was just in town from NYC for Hogmanay and my "friends in the know" brought me here for breakfast straight from the airport. I ordered the avocado toast which was so delicious, and SO huge, that I could only eat half of it. I also ordered a side of bacon, which filled an entire plate, but definitely wasn't as cooked as I would have liked. Still, the avocado toast was enough to have us come back again two days later, where I also ordered THE BEST SMOOTHIE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! It was the turmeric smoothie with almond milk, almond butter, turmeric, salt, dates, and

I found it a bit hard to find wholesome, tasty food while simply walking around the touristy part of Edinburgh, so I'm glad I stumbled upon this place for breakfast! Plus, it's quite instagrammable if I do say so myself :~) The service was a bit slow (25 min for table, 20 min for main dishes, 10 min for bill) so I'd suggest making a reservation if you can. Staff was kind and handled the rush pretty well!

Landed in Edinburgh and rolled into town on the local tram.

Googled a place for breakfast and wound up at Urban Angel. Everyone here is so nice and the food was very good. I ordered Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and my wife ordered avocado on toast with scrambled eggs. We cleaned our plates!! The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because they charge for basic coffee refills. Hey, I'm American and expect to at least drink a couple of cups of coffee with breakfast and not go broke paying for it. On the flip side, they don't charge extra for the gluten-free option

After being turned away from several closed/packed bistros and restaurants in the area, we stumbled into quiet Urban Angel in search of a decent, warm dinner. The cheery, bright cafe facade belied a cozier, interior seating area, which my friend A. deemed "perfect for couples".

A. was disappointed that they didn't serve smoothies in the evening, but ended up highly satisfied with her creamy butternut squash soup. H. and I split the charcuterie plate, which tasted balanced and was plated beautifully. The arugula was fresh and melded well with the smoky, savoury sausage and cheese

Everything but the coffee was horrible.
Read this place on Scottish independent coffee guide, naturally, I thought this place must be pretty good.
We went there for a coffee in the afternoon. However, as soon as we walked in, we saw this chaotic where people just started queuing at different places. Some were waiting for a table, others like me were just there to have a coffee.
We found 2 chairs by the window and ordered a batch brew coffee, a small piece of cake and smoothie.
The cashier girl had the biggest poker face in the world... come on, it was sunny that day!
Also, I wasn't very
