Services
Earliest records show that there has been a butchers shop on this site since the late 1800's. Originally owned by the Duke of Bedford estates, the shop and premises, including some premises at Paddons Row were rented by one Joseph Lovell. The lease was then sold to 2 brothers called Reddicliffe who farmed at Peter Tavy.
If you have reared your own animals, and wish us to cut and prepare the carcase, we are pleased to offer this facility. We charge a cutting fee of 83p per kilo (69p plus V.A.T). Any ingredients used in the preparation of sausages, etc. will be an additional charge, plus any disposal charge for waste, (bones etc.).
The price for meat is the price per /Kg that will be used to calculate the selling price, as once we cut and weigh your order you are charged for the exact weight/price. Whilst every care is taken to cut the exact quantity, in practice even the most skilled and experienced butcher will need a margin of error in cutting, and this also means that good food is not wasted.

Fantastic meat. I did not realise how bad tesco meat was until I tried Palmers. Palmers bacon is as thick as cardboard and with no additive, Tescos bacon is as thin as printer paper and pumped up with chemicals that show themselves when tried as white spit globules. Disgusting! We always make a special trip to Palmers every week and have not bought any meat in Tescos for years now. Palmers staff are really friendly and have a laugh. Don't get that in Tesco either.

One week into lockdown we received a Palmers delivery, it was great . The next week we received an order, it was warm . It was put in the fridge and a couple of days later the chicken was cooked, it stank. I phoned to complain and was told the matter would be sorted out. One and a half month later, no response . Needless to say they will never get an order from us ever again, and also will never get recommend. In fact quite the opposite, we will tell everyone how we were treated. Thanks for reading this.
