The Holistic Veterinary Medicine Centre was established in 1995 and employs two holistic veterinary surgeons working in close association with Serena Ridley, a chiropractor experienced with treating horses, dogs and cats. We offer consultations at the surgery for a variety of natural therapies including homeopathy, herbal medicine and acupuncture.
We routinely treat dogs, cats and horses but also have considerable experience with cattle, sheep, goats and rabbits. Most of the small animal work we do is at the surgery in East Hoathly and at Grove Lodge in Preston Drove, Brighton. For horses and farm animals we are happy to visit within a radius of 60 miles from the surgery.

Services
We are situated in a small complex of workshop units (The Village Works) in the centre of the pretty village of East Hoathly in East Sussex. The village is about a mile from the A22. Eastbourne, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Lewes, East Grinstead and South London are all within easy reach. There is ample parking directly in front of the practice.
Homeopathy is a form of natural medicine that has been in use worldwide for over 200 years. Based on a principle that was discovered by the Greeks and developed by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann, it is based on the principle of like cures like. Using infinitely diluted medicines it seeks to address the patient as a whole either on a constitutional, historical or pathological basis.
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing thought to have originated in Tibet or India but developed extensively by the Chinese. It is one of the oldest therapies in the world and is essentially the insertion of needles into the skin at specific points on the surface of the body. The Chinese recognise that these points have a direct relationship to some of the main internal organs and with the muscles and skeleton.
Same pony as in the picture to the right, with the skin problem much improved using natural medicine. This is the horse featured at the top of the page with a sarcoid infront of the right eye. The top picture show the resolving sarcoid after treatment. Quite often we will combine therapies, for example, we often use homeopathy or nutraceutical supplements alongside acupuncture.
CV247 is a side-effect-free adjuvant treatment regime for improving the well-being and life expectancy of dogs suffering from malignant tumours and for delaying the recurrence of otherwise treated or surgically removed or de-bulked malignant tumours. The treatment is supplied as an oral base solution, to be mixed with powdered ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) before use.

Tim and his team at The Holistic Veterinary Medicine Centre are fantastic! As a puppy, our dog developed a disease (Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD) that could have one day proved fatal had we not found Tim and got her onto natural tinctures (which she still takes to this day more than four years later). We had a consultation with Tim where he asked lots of questions and took detailed notes, after which he explained IBD to us and patiently answered all of our questions and addressed all of our concerns. Following the consultation we waited while he mixed up three different tinctures - 1 X daily

I love them. I have been today with my beagle dog, Maya. Peter was so kind and asked so many questions about her, which is so good from my perspective, to find out what it is happening with her. I will go back with them, and Maya will always be with them from now on. Thank you so much for your professionalism and your care. See you again in 6 weeks. Take care. Xx

They have given us extra time with our Sam. The atmosphere is so relaxed for animals and humans and all the staff care about the animals and their welfare. Tim is so in tune with the animals
Our Sam always licks us when we have done something to help him and he has done the same to Tim too. Sam does not like conventional Vets. Tim was a conventionally trained Vet who eventually studied to become an holistic one. Animals have been brought from Europe and various parts of this country to see him.

I take my dog, a nearly 13 year old lab for chiropractic treatment. He comes away like a puppy again, his back and rear legs being loosened and massaged. He absolutely loves it and the Chiropractor Serena.
The staff are fantastic and go the extra mile to accommodate and help (when appointments get muddled). I can thoroughly recommend. Parking can get a bit tight, but there is parking on the road and a car park a bit further down the road.

My experience of Tim is that he is rather special. He doesn't claim to know everything, nor to be able to cure everything; and yet each time he has worked with my pets - a dog and a cat - the animal's condition has improved. It's not just that he's perceptive and intuitive; he is also very kind and very calm. He has a way of describing serious symptoms which does not induce panic or despair. He also clearly loves animals, whilst having no sentimentality around them. He's come to me a couple of times for home visits. Whilst these visits are not cheap, they work out an awful lot less expensive than

We took on a very poorly rescue Hungarian Viszla who we struggled to keep any weight on we found out he had 13 cysts in his pancreas and a liver the quarter size of a dogs liver thankfully a course of antibiotics from our vet got on top of the cysts but he still struggled with pancreatic insufficiency and digestive problems our vet (who we love) wanted to put him on steroids but we wanted to find an alternative as we realised this wasn’t perhaps the best way forward because of his tiny liver. After hearing all good things about Tim we took Hugo to see him and I can honestly say Tim absolutely

Brilliant!! Tim’s fantastic, can’t rate him highly enough. Support staff are lovely too. Always happy to talk & reassure you.
6 years of everything available through vets & online for my cats skin problems then 6 months of remedies & we’re nearly fixed!!! A few tweaks here & there and probably a few more through the seasons but it’s better ten fold. I’m happy & so is my cat 🐈😺
Thanks Tim & co.
