The Bedford Lodge is ideally situated in the beautiful Shanklin Old Village, and is set in it's own south facing, private gardens with sloping lawns, mature trees, flowering bushes and a sun terrace with views towards the Downs.
The Bedford has been welcoming guests to the Isle of Wight for over 150 years, and was built in the 1840's overlooking the Chine and it was considered to be in an idyllic spot for 'taking the air' and 'promenading' by the Victorian people. It's so easy to pop out for a relaxing drink, or grab a bite to eat close by, with a huge choice of fare to choose from including pub meals, cream teas, cafe food, ethnic and fine dining.

We had an incredible time at the Bedford Lodge. The outside garden area is charming, and the lodge is situated in a perfect location, close to restaurants, the beach and the chine! Gilly and her husband are great hosts and made our stay very special. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay in a great location, you've found it!

Really nice hotel, warmly met by Gilly (owner), checked us in early, lovely quiet very clean hotel, comfy bed, very clean room and bathroom too, very spacious in both bedroom and bathroom, shower really good, toiletries provided, hotel grounds were fantastic, parking OK, bit on small side, but council car park available right next to hotel and fairly cheap especially overnight.
Breakfast was really good, the usual full English, cereals, yoghurt, bran, fruit, daily specials too, you will start the day right eating here. Really enjoyed our two nights here, hotel is right in heart of old Shanklin

Amazing Hotel, central to old Shanklin so beautiful. Gilly was friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit and eat out.
The Hotel is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. Attention to detail in rooms and just has a wonderful welcoming feel. Tastefully decorated. It's a credit to the owners.
Breakfast cooked to order and a variety to choose from. I couldn't fault it.
I would most certainly recommend and return.
Thank you Gilly it really made our stay on the island special.
