In this section we give you some of the background and history of the club, the green, coaching etcetera. Salisbury Bowls Club is a private members club founded 1912. Salisbury Bowling Club, one of the oldest flat green bowls clubs in Wiltshire, celebrated it's centenary in 2012. The present club was founded in 1912. It's origins though can be traced back to 1751 when it's green was situated at the confluence of the rivers Avon and Nadder as part of a small holding known as 'Bowling Green Nurseries.
Early each season we hold an Open Day to welcome new bowlers or anyone interested in the game of bowls. New members are welcome any time, to play during the season April to September and over the winter period, attend the social events and have a try indoors. If you want a go or just someone to talk through the game with you, it's as easy as contacting one of the club officers or coaches.
The most important asset of a bowling club is its playing surface. Salisbury Bowling Club has a six rink grass green, which is maintained by a section of club members. These helpers commit themselves through the playing season and beyond. The green requires cutting at least three times a week during summer season.
Salisbury Bowling Club provides coaching for beginners, club bowlers and juniors up to the age of 18. Each individual is different and a Coach can help with all aspects of the game as individuals develop their skills and knowledge. Safeguarding, Home Office and N.S.P.C.C. guidelines are practiced to ensure the safety and protection of children and vulnerable people.
