The Butcher and Beast has been a Batemans' Pub for about the last 50 years and is the only pub in the country with that name. We are truly unique. There are photos around the pub of the village and pub over the years and now have developed a dog wall, as a dog friendly pub. If you use the pub, then bring a photo of your dog and we will happily put it on the wall (the dog has to be a regular of the pub to make it on our dog wall!).
Mal and Diane Gray are now into their 10th year running the Butcher and Beast but have been working with Batemans' Brewery in Wainfleet for over 18 years. This is their 3rd pub with the same brewery and are now the longest serving couple with Batemans.

We are proud to be a Batemans' Pub and stock most of their range, you will always find Batemans XB and XXXB on our bar as well as their seasonal ales. We also offer an array of local cask and craft beers along with world beers and a guest scrumpy cider or two. We've got some cracking wines behind the bar, a strong selection of Scotland's finest malts and not forgetting our large collection of premium gins and rums.

This is a nice cosy, friendly village pub with a bit of history behind it. There's a pleasant beer garden, fire in the hearth in the winter, and a colourful flower display on summer (though that hasn't peaked yet this year). The food is good, the staff is friendly and efficient. It's the sort of place where you can go alone without feeling intimidated, take an elderly relative without worry or just go for a decent pint with friends and enjoy yourself.

Not local to the area but welcomed like we'd been many times before. Asked our server about dairy free options due to allergy, the chef came out to speak to us to ask some questions and to tell us what she could do (best service I've had anywhere with regards to this) made changes to my chosen dish to make it dairy free which was excellent. Sirloin steak was amazing. Staff really friendly and helpful- nothing was too much trouble. Social distancing guidelines managed well.
Just want to say a special thanks to the chef for taking extra time to come speak to me about my allergy. Thank you

Homely pub food. Don't expect airs and graces but an honest menu and tasty food. Nine of us were accommodated in the conservatory, and we were served quickly. Food was generally good - the steak pie is highly recommended, the burger much less so. Any grumbles were dealt with quickly and happily. Food is on the pricey side.
