In history we follow the National Curriculum enhancing and tailoring it to meet the needs of our community and pupils. At Rivington the study of the past is an important part of a child's learning journey. We wish to stimulate children's interest in the past and develop an enjoyment of historical study.
Welly Walk - the children will be putting on their wellies and venturing out into the school grounds. Adventure Time - we will be linking up with the Reception twice a week to share activities in both gardens. Snack Time - children can access the snack bar when they are ready for their snack during the session.
The children will take part in regular outdoor and indoor activities and will have access to the outside learning area throughout the day. Morning snacktime is provided at 10:20am with Key Stage One. The children are offered toast and milk and fruit is provided for children who do not wish to have toast.
We will have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays and the children should come to school wearing their PE kit. Homework will be given out on Fridays. This will be spellings and maths. In addition your child will have their own reading day, on which they need to bring their book bag to school each week. At the beginning of the year we continue in the learning style of the Early Years.
This half term, in English, we will be working on descriptive writing. We will revisit the topic of 'place value' in maths. Our class topic will be the local area of St Helens and we will research significant historical landmarks. In geography, we will look at the transport network around St Helens and how it is important for trade and leisure.
