We enjoy a varied and busy sailing calendar all through the year, from friendly afternoon social sails to fast paced open events, to series handicap racing. We have plenty for everyone, no matter what level and experience. Held every June, this unique event brings together teams of junior sailors from across the UK to race for a continuous 12 hour period.
As a RYA accredited training centre we offer a wide range of training for juniors and adults of all abilities and experience. After planned 3 evenings we only have 1 result - for just 2 finishers. It's a poor start to one of the best series in the calendar - what has happened to the enthusiasm we.

Services
We have an active diary of sailing events for members who don't want to race. Members are free to use the lake whenever they want, but if they want to meet up on a regular basis with other like-minded members, the WAG (Wednesday Afternoon Group) meet each Wednesday between 1 and 4 to just enjoy sailing on the lake.
Our days will start at 0930 and will finish ready to be collected at 1630 (off the water at 1545), all our juniors will be expected to help put away our boats and equipment, rather than leave it to a small number of juniors / helpers. This not only shares out the work but gives all the youngsters a better feel for the rigging / de-rigging of the boats, and can only make them more confident when it comes to rigging their own boats in the future.
If you are interested in applying for membership of Southport Sailing Club please drop by for a chat to discuss the many benefits we offer and experience first hand our informal, friendly atmosphere. The best times to call down are race days/nights when the club is usually busy and we will normally have the bar or galley open.
Southport Sailing club now centres round a large and spacious clubhouse featuring all the amenities you would expect. There are changing rooms with toilets and showers, a well equipped galley and a large lounge and bar in which you can relax after sailing. Outside the club there's a raised patio stepping down to a large flagged area stretching to the waters edge.
The formation of Southport Sailing Club had its beginnings in the late 1950's when a few dinghy sailing enthusiasts sailing 'kit-built' dinghies began to meet on the water, at the lakeside and later in Tommy Mann's Bar, (the pub on stilts now known as 'The Lakeside Inn').
Thus Tommy Mann's Bar became the meeting place for those who formed the nucleus of Southport Sailing Club, and in 1959 with the blessing of Tommy Mann (The then, lake lessee - all 22 stone of him), the club was born, and a Commodore, a Secretary and Treasurer were elected. However there was still no clubhouse and no official water to sail on as a club.
