In 1964 a small group of local Mums set up the Brenchley and Matfield Nursery Group. At that time there were just 22 pre-school age children and a handful of staff operating from the Brenchley Memorial Hall. Over the years the Nursery Group was renamed Brenchley Pre-School and as time went on, the sessions and child numbers increased so a second classroom was introduced for the two to three year olds in the Hall's "Ladies Room".
The keyperson approach is aimed at enabling close attachments between individual children and their families. A keyperson helps the child to feel familiar with the setting and to feel confident and safe within it. When children feel happy and secure they are confident to explore and try out new things.
Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They actively reach out to interact with other people, and in the world around them. However, development is not an automatic process. It depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments.
This is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework focuses on three prime areas of learning critical to making sure children develop healthily and happily. These areas form the foundations on which children can then master the basic literacy skills they need for school. The first five years of a child's life, are absolutely critical.

Have been fortunate enough to look round this preschool, looking for a place for my grandson. This was amazing an outstanding Ofsted well deserved on reflection of the staffs interaction and confident children. I had photographs sent to me as it isn’t possible to photograph with children on site but the images sent are a true reflection of this lovely semi rural gem.
