The Rusbridge Family Bakers
We are a third-generation, family bakery based in Southborough, Kent. We bake a large selection of traditional and speciality breads including rye, spelt, herb, tomato and our own Rusty, as well as rolls, pasties, buns and cakes. We also have a thriving wholesale business, a specialised cake making service, sell free range eggs and can produce personalised greeting cards too.
Services
This started our range and is a deliciously moist combination of tomato and white flour, olive oil and basil. Some people use it with pasta but it is very often that children like it as an alternative to white or wholemeal. We think it is just divine with butter and make rolls with the same mix, for your convenience for mopping up sauce.
As for sandwich and roll fillings, whilst the usual ham, cheese, egg, sausage, bacon, prawns, assorted chickens and tuna are always available, there are usually options like crispy duck in hoi sin sauce, minty lamb, roast beef, corned beef, smoked salmon and pate in stock too. Toasted sandwiches and rolls have become popular, a particular favourite being Brie and Bacon but the limit to this is your own imagination.
It has always been a part of our range of services to supply other shops, pubs, clubs, hotels, cafes, restaurants, schools and for many years we have supplied baked goods to a number of National Trust properties too.

Our team, including baker Shane and packer Trevor, work very hard to bring you fresh products at a time and price to suit you, give us a call to discuss what can be done, or send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Precisely because our products are simply and freshly made, we have stalls at a number of Farmer's Markets and are fully signed up to the Kent Farmer's Market Association, usually a member of the family is in attendance. We believe it is important that our customers come face-to-face with us, often sharing good news or sympathy, whilst "doing the deal".

Great selection of fresh bread and pastries. Friendly service. They also sell hand made cards and when I bought one, they personalized it then and there. Would recommend.

The owner, Chrissie, is perhaps the rudest shopkeeper I have ever been served by. My wife and I have lived in Southborough for almost 20 years and we like to support local business, but we have always struggled to become regular customers here. What level of service you receive and how uncomfortable she makes you feel will usually depend on whether she is having a bad or good day - usually it's bad. Sometimes there is no hello as you enter the shop, no conversation during the transaction, no please when asking for payment, no thank you when you have spent your money - inexcusable really, basic

This bakery was once the heart and soul of Southborough but like any business, you’re only as good as your last customer and my experience was nothing short of down right disgusting. The owner served me and she was incredibly rude. Without typing a transcript, responses I received like ‘I do know, I have worked here long enough to know my own prices’, this was off the back of her searching for a price on her new till which I merely said ‘the sausage roll is £1.60 if you’re looking for it’.
You’ll lose your customers with treatment like this.
Let’s hope it’s not the norm as

Rusbridges is a lovely bakery although I am not always able to use. But they produce really nice bread which years ago I bought regularly bought in the morning when it was lovely and warm. Always thoroughly enjoyable.

If he was alive today Beau Nash himself would have insisted on Rusbridge bread on his table.
