Kearton Country Hotel
Kearton Country Hotel in the village of Thwaite, Swaledale has been providing a warm traditional Yorkshire welcome to visitors for many years. Now combining the comforts of a modern establishment with the delightful experience of staying in a historic stone building, it is a perfect destination for walkers, cyclists and those enjoying a tour of the Dales by car or motorcycle.

Join hosts, Wendy and Paul, for a relaxing week in the heart of Swaledale or stay overnight as you travel through the Dales. If you are passing through Thwaite on your travels, call in for tea or coffee and homemade ginger biscuits (and don't forget those famous mochas!).
Services
Coffee and tea is served with tasty home-made ginger biscuits or try one of our popular fruit scones with jam and cream. The coffee shop is open 11:00 to 16:00 Daily. We are closed Wednesday and Friday. The cosy bar has an open fire and serves a selection of local ales, as well as a wide selection of fine malts.
Swaledale has a lot of walks to choose from and Kearton Country Hotel is the ideal base while you explore. Feel free to ask us when you visit and we'd be happy to recommend some. If you're new to hiking, check out this great beginners guide to help you get out and explore the countryside. The Sherpa Van Project is a nationwide, regular, daily luggage moving service that covers all of Britain's major walking and cycling routes.
From the A1 leave at Scotch Corner and join the A6108 sign posted for Richmond. Follow this road through Richmond (sign posted for Leyburn and Reeth) for approximately 6 miles, then bear right and join the B6270 (sign posted Reeth and Kirkby Stephen) for approximately 15 miles. Only apartments these days plus a coffee shop, but not Wed. or Fri.!!
Apartments very clean and everything you may need for a break.
Welcoming host Paul will show you around. Thwaite village has nothing else to offer, no pub, no restaurant, but if you like walking in quiet countryside, or for the more adventurous there are fells which need climbing.
If The Weather Gods are with you, you will not be disappointed at Keartons

Not entirely sure why they serve food in a takeaway brown bag with plastic cutlery? Location is lovely and be nice on a sunny day will be back.
