Abbey Veterinary Group
We are committed to keeping abreast of the latest developments in modern veterinary practice and to providing high-quality treatment at sensible prices. Emergency treatment is more effectively administered at the surgery and in most cases a severely injured animal can be moved quite safely. Have as many helpers as is necessary to move the animal with the minimum fuss and ensure that its airway is kept clear at all times.

Please let us know that you are on your way so that we can be ready to deal with the emergency. After hours our emergency work is covered by Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital in Long Eaton.
Services
We can carry out dental procedures at both surgeries. All dental work on dogs and cats requires a general anaesthetic and they will stay with us for the day. We also do dental xrays. We have a small in-house lab which compromises of a biochemistry and haematology machine, microscope, urine testing and some dermatological tests.
In order to redispense Prescription Only Medication (POM's), the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons code of practice indicates that pets must be under our real care. For most pets this involves a professional re-examination at regular intervals - normally three months; to the benefit of your pet's health.
At Abbey Veterinary Group we want to help you raise healthy, happy pets. Our Pet Health Plan has been specifically designed to provide routine preventative veterinary care which your pet will require throughout the year. As well as providing comprehensive pet care it allows you to budget in a convenient and affordable monthly payment, including substantial discounts.

Having now moved vets due to the ever increasing costs each time I visited this vet I uave today paid less than half the price for a blood test and repeat prescription. Shop around people you can get the same treatment and service for much less with a bit of research. It's a shame because never had an issue with the service but costs are way too high compared to other local vets.

I've been going to Abbey nearly 20 years, during which time I've had both excellent veterinary care and in the past, in hindsight, some inexperienced vet care.Theyve also had thousands in veterinary fees from both myself and Petplan.
The reception staff used to be amazing and nothing was too much trouble. You could always speak to a vet.
There have been errors in both drug requests and treatments over the years, which I have always taken in my stride and tried not to complain about, as nowhere is completely perfect and the staff were lovely.
I've had a call from the Clinical director, Catherine

We were referred to a specialist due to Abbey being unable to help with the issue of our dog going blind. Due to failures in sending over medical records to the specialist there was a delay in treatment of nearly a week; despite ringing and complaining everyday and being assured they had done what they needed to do. Abbey were advised what medication was needed; however we were charged £200 for a months supply of cats medicine that wasn't prescribed. We queried the cost with them as what the specialist prescribed was a different drug, they stressed that next time they would write us a prescription

Very good with both of my dogs I have taken to them. Both dogs used to like going there as all the staff make a fuss of them and no problems going into the surgery. I would recommend this vets, to you, and know your pet will be well looked after, by staff that care.

The vets are excellent, but do not buy products from them. Go to a pet shop.
We bought Indorex Flea Spray from them, and didn't realsie the price they charged until I had started to use the product. £18.20 for 500ml!!!!! A search on Google shows the same product for around £9 with free delivery.
Oh and ask for an itemised bill when you pay by debit card. Pay with a debit card and you only get a receipt for the total.
We will not be going back to Abbey Vets.
