The pre-school was set up in 1987 as a registered charity and, over the years, has provided an important service to hundreds of local families. We are an inclusive group and welcome all children and their families. We recognise that each child comes to us with their own unique life experiences, interests and challenges.
We work hard to get to know each child and their family so that we can best support each individual child to reach their full potential. In many cases we are one of the child's first experiences of independence away from their family and we endeavour to foster in them kindness, sharing, listening, concentration as well developing their academic skills, all of which will stand them in good stead as they progress through life.

Services
We place great emphasis on outdoor play. The children play outside every session unless the weather is very poor. In addition to a wide range of outdoor toys and equipment, we also have a sandpit, a children's garden, a wildlife garden, and a learning den, a woodland area with a story circle, mud kitchen, digging area, balancing logs, willow den, and chalkboards.
Our aim is for the children to learn through play. Each Pre-School session is carefully planned to encourage the children to take part in a wide variety of stimulating, imaginative and fun activities, thus enabling each child to develop to his/her full potential. All settings which work with young children have to, by law, follow the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Deputy Manager: Claire BA Hons Early Childhood Studies, Foundation Degree in Children's and Young People's Services. Training in Art and Design. All staff are trained in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, GDPR, and have ongoing training in Safeguarding. First Aid is renewed on a rolling basis ensuring we have recent training within the group.
As you are aware, all children at the Pre-School have a Keyworker who monitors their children's development and regularly plans for their future learning. This is documented in each child's Learning Journey. Key workers use the Development Matters and Early Years Outcomes documents as a guide to assess children's stages of development and to ensure that they are progressing through all seven areas of learning.
Many children will need some support with their speech and understanding. Within pre-school we are well used to developing programmes tailored to the individual child, and children can also take part in our Talk Boost programmes, which we run throughout the year. Our staff are experienced in supporting both children and their families with a wide range of additional needs.
