Chestnuts Pre-school is a registered charity, originally opened in 1984, and is managed by a committee whose members comprise of parents of children attending the group. We have our own self-contained premises in a residential area of Woosehill, adjacent to Hawthorns Primary School, with two large playrooms and a fully enclosed outside play area.

We employ 11 members of staff (10 of whom hold appropriate early years qualifications) who work with the children in a variety of sessions throughout the week. With lunch club every day, we can offer 6 hour continual care (subject to availability and minimum age of 3 years old). We currently have 55 children on roll with us.
Services
We have a wonderful team of staff here at Chestnuts led by our Manager and are fortunate to have a high number of qualified staff, eight of which are qualified to Level 3. In addition we also employ staff to support children with specific needs on a 1:1 basis. Amy has level 3 and 5 qualifications in early years and management and also an early years assessing qualification.
This involves the children coming into the session and selecting a Chestnut tree card with their photo and name on it. They then post it onto our self-registration board. Their parent or carer is responsible for ensuring that their child's name has been marked off on our register, before their child enters into a short free play time with their peers after which children will join together to sing our Welcome Song.
We are governed by the Pre-School Learning Alliance constitution which means our parent-run committee must have 3 officers (Chair, Secretary & Treasurer) and between 2 and 9 additional members. If there are not enough parents to make up the committee, then we would be regarded as non-constitutional and be forced to close.
We are always looking for new faces to join the fundraising committee. This merry bunch meet once a month and organise all the fundraising activities, from the Summer Fun day for the children to the Race Night for parents and all the events in between. As a charity, it is important we raise enough money to help us find those extra activities and new equipment for your children to continually enhance the children's experiences.
You may register your child with us at any time although we recommend that you do so as early as possible. Once we have received your application from and administration fee we will place your child on our waiting list and send you an acknowledgement letter. Our contact details can be found here. We will contact you in the May prior to the September of the academic year in which your child is due to start to offer you a place.
