A nursery for 2 - 5 year olds rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED. A place for children to explore, learn, be independent, have fun and make lasting friendships and memories. We are a parent run pre-school with a qualified and committed team of staff, situated in the grounds of Oaklands Infant School in Crowthorne, Berkshire.
We accept children aged between 2 and 5 years. 2 year olds are welcome to start the term after their 2nd Birthday. Children can start at Acorn Under Fives at the beginning of the term following their 2nd birthday. All children are welcome irrespective of gender, race, language, culture, disability, learning disability, or HIV/AIDS status.

Services
Acorn Under Fives was founded in 1986 by a group of parents in response to the lack of pre-school provision at that time. Today, we remain a vibrant community pre-school, offering flexible care for children aged 2 to 5 years. We have a passionate and dedicated team of staff, with the strategic running being overseen by a committee of parent volunteers, under the umbrella of the Pre-school Learning Alliance.
Our sessions can have a maximum of 33 children with 7 practitioners. The session begins with the children placing their belongings on their peg, which displays their name and photograph. We have a wide range of engaging activities and open ended resources that are available for the children to select and they are able to choose if they want to play indoors or outdoors as soon as they arrive.
You can register your child with us at any time by completing an application form (the earlier the better!). Children are eligible to start at Acorn Under Fives the term after their 2nd birthday and will be added to the waiting list for the term requested. Please note that our main intake is the Autumn Term and there will be limited availability in the Spring and Summer Terms.
This we feel will ensure the setting is much more child-led. We have completely re-structured our way of storing our equipment in order to ensure the children are given more free choice during play. This we hope will give a more enabling environment and will allow the children to explore and investigate through their play.
