Based in Bishopstone, North Wiltshire, Alfresco Childcare looks after children from six weeks old to 12 years old in our nursery, pre-school and school clubs. Our scenic three acre plot includes a forest and a large roaming garden so our children can spend the time outside everyday. We follow Forest School principles and our team includes qualified Forest School practitioners.

We have always believed what research is now starting to show - that being in touch with nature gives children the best opportunity to become confident and healthy in education and throughout life! Children love our healthy food which is freshly prepared onsite and families benefit from the flexible booking times we offer, which aren't limited to specific session times.
Services
The most important relationship in a child's life is the one with their parents. Many of the most important parts of the child's development come directly from simply spending time with their parents. As babies develop into toddlers, there are also increasing benefits from spending time in other social situations and with small groups of children.
The opportunities for the children to become interested and engaged in something are endless and restless children find it easier to focus. Research from Newcastle University and the University of Colorado has shown that children without formal teaching can teach themselves if motivated by curiosity and peer interest.
The appreciation of parents is always very warming, so we would like to thank anybody who gives us feedback. Lovely venue and great staff. Our toddler and after schooler love playing outside all the time in the forest and on the field. Send them in rough clothes, though, as they often get quite muddy!
We do not work within set session times, instead families are able to book the hours they want to the nearest half hour. We are open 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday all year round. The only days we are closed are bank holidays. All food is non-processed vegetarian (with occasional white fish) meals prepared here by our trained chef.
In many respects in modern life we don't get the basic things we know are beneficial for us:- unprocessed freshly prepared food, plenty of movement and physical exercise, fresh air and interacting with nature. This is often the case for both children and adults. Scientists and researchers link these things with many of the Western health problems such as obesity, diabetes, asthma, eczema, behaviour problems etc.

Amazing place for children! Loads of outside space and staff clearly care a lot about the children. My kids love coming here and I would definitely recommend them, especially if you want your kids to spend more time outdoors.

Our little one has attended Alfresco for nearly 18 months and we’re extremely happy with the setting. Most of the day is spent outside, with the healthy food and friendly staff we wouldn’t choose anywhere else!

Do not send your child here, The outdoor area is dangerous and has no secure fence. The whole establishment is run down. The prices change weekly. These people should not be looking after children. I have informed my local council about this buissnes as they take your money and offer no service.

I have to say my child did not like his time here was always sick and left in cold clothes and left hungry, plus you are left with a high bill which changes ever month, I have reported this business to the council and they are investigating the business as there has been many other complaints, last year they held a rave at there site which left many drugs and alcohol litter on site which they agreed was wrong, THIS PLACE NEEDS SHUTTING DOWN.

Nice setting but very run down and dated, garden area is very untidy with a road running along side the forest area with no proper fence, inside is very messy and untidy and looks very unprofessionaly run, Also havin a 0 rated food hygiene certificate goes to prove that it is not run very well. Much better run facilities near buy.

My girls have loved attending Alfresco pre school and now after school club. They spend most of the time outside in the forest and thoroughly enjoy that. We also are impressed with the home cooked healthy food, lots of which is grown in the vegetable patch. The staff and kind and nurturing, would highly recommend.
