Little Acorns has been based at Boxmoor and Warners End Community Centre in Hemel Hempstead for over 40 years. Now in our own self-contained building, overlooking Northridge Park, the Pre-School offers a warm welcome with a separate entrance lobby, a brightly coloured playroom, kitchen, toilets and outside play area.
Services
Little Acorns is part of the Boxmoor & Warners End Neighbourhood Association, who are a registered charity and a non profit making organisation. The Association is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers who regularly meet up to discuss and action community and Pre-School matters. The Pre-School is run by a team of fully qualified childcare professionals who each have a wealth of experience in the childcare sector.
We are registered by OFSTED to cater for up to 24 children aged 2,3 and 4 years old. Our usual intake occurs alongside the schools in September and January, but sometimes we can also consider children for a place after the Easter break, and depending on the availability at that time, this could either be the morning sessions, or afternoons.
We suggest your child wears comfortable clothes that they can easily remove themselves. We can provide T-shirts with the Little Acorns logo, at a cost of 5.00 each, to prevent wear and tear on their own clothes. We would ask you to PLEASE label all clothing and provide a bag of spares for their peg.
How does the setting know if children need extra help and what should I do if I think my child may have special educational needs? If you have any concerns you can speak to any member of our staff. Our co-ordinators for special educational needs and disabilities are Janet Shorne and Zoe Reeves.
If your child has identified needs before joining our preschool SENCO Co-ordinators will work with you ensuring everything is in place before your child starts with us.We will discuss special equipment, staff training and organising the class before your child starts with us. Your child's key person will work with our co-ordinators monitoring and reviewing your child's development through the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

I go on all sorts of adventures with the children and the teachers from the Pre-School, as they all have a turn in taking me home to their house for a sleepover. I keep a little diary about my adventures, which the children (and Mummy's and Daddy's, Grandmas and Grandads, Aunties, Uncles and Carers) all write in to let the other children know about my time away from the Pre-School.
