For more than 90 years we have been providing quality funeral services to the families of Ballynahinch and it's surrounding areas. We guarantee a prompt and personal 24 hour service from your first call until after the funeral. I would like to express our sincere appreciation to Bill and all the staff from Douglas for the thought, care, guidance and the total empathy shown throughout.
You made a very difficult and sad time much more bearable for us all. Your strapline of 'Family serving Family' couldn't be more appropriate!

Services
For over 95 years Douglas Funeral Directors have been serving the Ballynahinch community by providing a totally independent funeral service which maintains the old fashioned family tradition of quality and service while being responsive to the demands of the 21st century. Hugh Robinson Douglas established the business in 1926 when he purchased the existing firm of Patterson Undertakers, the owner having decided to emigrate to America.
A Funeral service helps to acknowledge someone we have loved or known and provides an opportunity to talk about and remember the life of the person who has died. At Douglas Funeral Directors we keep this in mind when assisting you to create a funeral which both honours and respects your loved one, either plain and simple or as elaborate as you wish.
If death occurs at home, the deceased's G.P. or an out of hours on-call Doctor will attend to confirm death after which a medical certificate stating the cause of death can be issued, this certificate is used to register the death at the local registration office. A registration form will be completed by the registrar allowing for burial or cremation to take place.
This is a very individual decision. Some may feel an absolute need to view the deceased prior to the funeral, whilst others may prefer to remember a loved one as they were in happier times. Unrestricted Viewing/Visiting at our Premises Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.00pm; other times are available by arrangement, including at the weekend.
UK Law requires all deaths to be registered, usually before a funeral takes place except where the coroner is involved in which case it is permitted to register after the funeral, this may be up to 6 months after the death, depending on the circumstances. The coroner's office will keep you informed and can issue an interim death certificate if required for any legal purposes.
