Services
We are proud of our history. Our veterinary practice was the original practice in the town of Burnley. It was established very much in the mould of James Herriot, dealing with all creatures great and small. Originally the practice mainly dealt with farm animals but also on a smaller scale, provided care for companion pets.
Endoscopy - Is a way of viewing the inside of the body using an endoscope. This instrument uses fibre-optic technology and allows the vet to look inside the gastrointestinal tract or respiratory tract. It is less invasive than other surgical procedures. This technique is used to explain frequent or persistent vomiting or internal bleeding and as well as being used for diagnosis it can also be used for treatment such as removing foreign bodies.
We believe that nutrition is an important part of keeping pets healthy and can also play a vital part in the treatment of some illnesses. This is why we stock a select range of cat and dog pet food in practice, helping to take the faff out of pet food for our clients by recommending diets that have been scientifically created to provide optimal nutrition, which tastes great!
Dedicated professionals, providing comprehensive advice, treatment, and expertise, tailored to meet your exotic pets' needs. Accepting both first opinion consultations and referrals from other veterinary practices. The department is led by Veterinary Surgeon and Clinical Director, Sheryl Calway, who holds her GP Certificate in Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery (GpCert ExAP) and who is also a registered poultry vet.
Did you know that in recent surveys 85% of dogs and 70% of cats over three years of age have some form of dental disease? A healthy mouth typically has shiny white teeth surrounded by firm pink (or pigmented ) gums. Plaque is an invisible film composed of bacteria and other substances which forms naturally and continuously on the surface of the teeth and gums.

Excellent service, compassionate & professional staff including receptionists. Open on Sundays which is fantastic as most vets surgeries aren't. Up to date treatments & alternative discussed. Amazing service provided by the staff. I was not registered and they still allowed me to walk in last minute and take a look at my puppy as it was an emergency whereas other places would not even have a look. I now have registered my puppy there and would recommend them purely because of their compassion towards animals

I have been with this practice for many years in its various guises. In that time I have had a number of dogs treated by them, always professional and caring and when the time comes to say goodbye to the oldies I have found the vets and staff kind and compassionate to not only my dogs but myself too. Highly recommend.

I know when I need to go to Oakmount that they will take the very best care of my pets. They treat them as individuals which is great because my 2 dogs are very different. And they take care to give me lots of information and reassurance too. I'd always recommend them.
