Ewelme C Of E Primary School
Ewelme is a very special school for many reasons, not least the incredible, historic building that houses us. However, as amazing as our surroundings are, we believe our greatest assets are the wonderful children here. At Ewelme we aim to support, nurture and challenge every child so they can develop their knowledge, skills and character during their time here.

This way, we can be sure that they are ready for the next step in their education and prepared for life in modern Britain. By bringing these values together, and offering a broad and rich curriculum, we aim for every child here to fully develop their academic ability, their talents and gifts and their character.
Services
Amongst the many things that make Ewelme School uniquely special are our gorgeous medieval buildings that raise everyone's spirit and our wonderful rural location surrounded by trees and rolling green fields with a sports area and glorious countryside air that energises and inspires.

However, more important than these is the love of learning that has been at the heart of our teaching for 600 years and has underpinned our consistently high school ratings by Ofsted, and SIAMS who rated us "Outstanding".The rich and vibrant curriculum is a strength of the school. For example, when learning about the war, pupils became 'evacuees' for the day and when learning about the Romans they created their own aqueducts.
The Duchess of Suffolk, Alice Chaucer (granddaughter of the poet Geoffrey Chaucer) built and founded Ewelme School in 1437 as a place for high quality education. The school forms part of a complex of medieval buildings, which includes the church and almshouses. This is the oldest functioning maintained school building in the country.
Our vision for Ewelme CE Primary School, our ambitions for our pupils and the mission statement set out below are rooted in the school's strong Christian values and have been developed by all stakeholders within the school, including staff, pupils, parents and governors.

At Ewelme we aim to develop young people who are ready, respectful, responsible, resilient and reflective meaning that, by the end of Year 6, they are not only well prepared for Secondary school and the world beyond in terms of their academic attainment, skills and knowledge, but also their values, mindset and character.READY - Ready for learning, ready for the next step and stage of learning, ready for life in modern Britain.
The school governors work with the Headteacher and staff of Ewelme School to promote high standards in our children's education in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Governors are responsible for major decisions about the school and its future. For instance, they set the annual budget and approve targets and policies for the school.
There are four houses in Ewelme. These are named after major features in our local enviornment; Thames, Swyncombe, Ridgeway and Chilterns. Every child is placed in a house and these houses compete for house points throughout the week. Awards are usually given at an achievement assembly at the end of the week.

Report
I went to this school so many years ago and I haven't returned yet. I hope to visit one day. It is home to some of my earliest fond memories. I recall Mr Coleman was the principal. From Ewelme I went far and wide across this world and I owe much to this small village. I recall playing Fagan in a school play. It was probably awful.
