Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions we were unable to run today's Regatta. Orford Sailing Club is a friendly open club for sailors of all abilities, with a membership of about 500. We are based on the Suffolk Coast, in the picturesque village of Orford within sight of the famous medieval castle.
The sailing club has over 270 subscribing members (about 580 people in all). Its premises are a purpose-built Clubhouse, containing a clubroom with kitchen, changing rooms, showers and a race officers' bridge. The dinghy park fronts onto the river, with a concrete ramp giving access at all states of the tide and there is a pontoon which dries out at low water.

Services
Yacht racing began in Orford as early as 1876 with annual regattas, held under the patronage of the gentry (HRH the Prince of Wales appears in the subscribers' list for 1881). The oldest trophy which is still competed for at Orford was presented in 1876 by Lady Wallace of Sudbourne Hall. Her husband Sir Richard was a friend of the Prince of Wales and famous as a great Art Collector.
People of all ages can learn to sail. Whether you are a beginner or wish to update your previous sailing skills, there is something for everyone. Orford Sailing Club will be offering slightly restricted courses. We may be unable to teach beginners who would normally like to apply for RYA Stage 1 (under 16) or RYA Level 1 (over 16).
For younger students our Topper half -day courses have also proved very popular and great fun. We offer young people the opportunity to try out dinghy sailing in a safe structured environment. They experience the fun, teamwork and excitement that being on the water offers. These informal sessions teach them all kinds of invaluable life skills and also provide much local knowledge.
Sailing Taster Sessions are one-hour sessions aimed at local families to create an opportunity to experience sailing on the river and to meet other people who like sailing. There is no further commitment. Anyone can come along to these sessions. Children must be at least 8 years old. Everyone must be able to swim.
Orford Sailing Club is situated on the river Ore and is a small and vibrant club catering for all aspects of sailing. There is racing at weekends from March to November mostly handicap racing but with some class racing during the busy holiday season of July and August and also mid-week youth and junior racing in the summer holidays.
