Neptune Sailing
Neptune Sailing is a charity and needs occasional help with simple tasks such as recovering dinghies, tidying the site, simple boat maintenance and repairs. We are keen to form a supporters' group, so that local people can get involved, and we are launching the group with some sailing sessions. Since you will be helping us, there will be no charge for the sessions.

Whether you can sail, or not, we will aim to give you some basic sailing or powerboat training to develop your skills. We will be making this a continuing project and hope that a lot of keen locals will want to help us by getting involved. For those who would like to sail at weekends, or continue to sail with Neptune after their summer course, we are hoping to offer some OnBoard sessions again this year.
Services
Neptune Sailing has been part of Suffolk Water Sports Association and is a Recognised Training Centre for the RYA. It has been working with Neptune Youth Group and those keen to learn to sail in the local community for many years. The Centre has been divested from SWSA to Neptune Sailing Management Committee.
Neptune Youth Group is run by volunteers with the aim of developing members' skills and improving their understanding of sailing. Young people often join us with little or no experience of sailing and frequently stay with us for a number of years. We have three different groups, aimed at Beginner, Improver and Advanced Stages of the RYA scheme.
Neptune Sailing runs courses and training in Dinghy Sailing and Powerboating. All courses follow the relevant RYA schemes and lead to the award of an RYA certificate on successful completion. We are able to offer more individual training, based on your needs and ability. We recognise that adults lead busy lives and are able to be flexible in our delivery of training.
We have a few spaces available on the last two summer courses, so it's not too late to reserve your place. No payment is required to make a booking - we expect to send invoices for course fees at the start of June this year. The courses are popular and are well-staffed with a good instructor to student ratio, so we can put instructors into boats to provide coaching tips.
More than 20 Chelmondiston Primary pupils and their teachers took to the water in July, in conjunction with Pin Mill Sailing Club and Neptune Sailing. They had lunch at the centre and then took to the water in seven of our Wayfarers. Some seemed a little apprehensive at first, but they soon found their sea-legs and enjoyed their trip on the river immensely.

Great staff ! Did our level 1 RYA with Neptune with two of my friends, and we all loved it! we were taught on a 1 to 1 basis and felt comfortable to ask our instructors anything without feeling silly. We had loads of sailing time, giving us time to really get the bug for sailing. I would highly recommend Neptune sailing to any one whether you sailed before ( like myself) or are completely new to it. ( both my friend). We are all coming back at the beginning of next season to complete our level 2!
