Services
Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club is based on the mouth of the River Deben in Suffolk, England. This location offers sailing in sheltered and open waters at all times of the tide for sailors, windsurfers and kitesurfers. The club site has two dinghy parks, outboard/tender storage, parking and two launching sites.
We have just had a very successful London cruise to St Katherine's Dock with 8 member boats taking part at various times over a week. We welcomed new members Will Risdill-Smith and his lovely family to the group in their impressive trimaran. After a delayed start the weather mainly did us proud, though sailing itself was in slightly short supply.
The early summer series concluded last night, a good turnout and very challenging conditions, saw a long evening for most sailors. A few decided that after struggling to cross the start line it was probably better to take a beer and eat some home cooked lasagne.
Well done to those that made 'the corner', special mention to Matt Ambrose for sailing the course only to find out he was OCS, also to Tim who was also OCS but turned back and battled the strong ebb tide to get a finish.Congratulations to Simon and MAtt in the RS400 winning the race and the series.

From the last 18 months of me being on my boat in the River Deben ,it's a sad reflection of times when I've personally been on my boat and have had 3 hits via The Felixstowe Ferry Sailing club!! The Commodore, doesn't seem to care .I've been hit with a Dart 18 ,and two Lasers .I have a couple of photos to show they have collided with other boats in the Deben ...... obviously not my favourite Sailing club .Yet I grew up sailing 2 Merlin Rockets "Nanna". and "Dypsomania" .

I kind of drifted into club membership at a very early age in the ‘40’s. My parents became fully blown members and my grandfather reclaimed his pre-war mooring site with an ex seaplane tender - Barracuda. And we never looked back. Father was elected as one of Jackie Rowbottom’s flag officers, a situation that remained static for about 25 years .
In those early days a motley selection of dingies raced each other each summer weekend. The rivalry was intense, with skippers varying from Billy Newson (who usually won) to a silk clothing manufacturer with a wooden leg ! And, most importantly in

Good morning,
Its a great place to sail, at sea, or on the delightful river Deben.
Could we provide a video for people to view our club activities for people to publicly see what we do. Sailing is a great sport for all ages, so an action film of people having fun afloat, on yachts, dinghies, and powerboats would be ideal.
And we need to encourage more people to get involved. Social meets, for example FFSC walks as recently suggested are a great idea, particularly as these events provide time for people to get to know each other, perhaps good for new members.
Working parties are also good, its

Very friendly club with great facilities.
Good range of classes race on Wednesday evening during the spring, summer and autumn, with some racing at weekends and a lively youth sailing section. The club is ideally placed at the mouth of the Deben meaning if the conditions are not suitable, members can sail in the relative safety of the river. If it all goes pear shaped, the worst that will happen is you could get washed up to Woodbridge, which isn't a bad thing. :-)
