St Clares Care Home
Augustinian Care provides care with nursing for elderly frail residents and those with mental health problems in Sussex. We work hard to provide unique high quality elderly care, enabling individuals to lead valued and fulfilled lives with freedom to make choices. We are passionate about caring and our personalised nursing care-plans ensure that each person is treated with respect and their independence and individuality are recognised.

We work hard where possible to ensure that we provide a lifestyle full of activities and choices that are centred on residents' own interests, enabling each resident to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they are able. Our two care homes, St Clare's and St Rita's, are located at St George's Park, Ditching Common just a couple of miles from both Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath.
Services
The Augustinian Order was founded in 1842 in Bruges, Belgium by Reverend Canon Peter John Maes who devoted his life to the care of the mentally ill. The Sisters of St. Augustine was re-formed in 1866 when it established its first home, St. George's Retreat in Burgess Hill, Sussex, principally to care for the mentally and physically ill.
The Sister of St. Augustine, Mercy of Jesus, were founded 1842 in Bruges by Canon Peter John Mayes, he was a great advocate of the mentally ill. He travelled extensively to study their treatment and care, pioneering more human treatment for them than was the norm at that time. He believed in the value of having Sisters dedicated to the care of the sick and he took a group of Sisters from Bruges to Burgess Hill.
Augustinian Care is a Charity who cares for elderly residents who are frail and may have mental health problems. You can set up a Standing Order directly from your bank account to ours, and no further action will be needed to continue making a regular monthly donation towards our work. Link to Order Form.
All our staff take great pride in making a difference to the lives of our many residents and their families. They take satisfaction from their work and many have been with us for considerable time, all are part of the Augustinian family. We believe that we offer our staff an excellent working environment which, in turn, makes working for us a very rewarding experience.
We are currently recruiting for qualified Staff Nurses to work in our Care Homes with Nursing in our unique 250 acre setting. Our Staff Nurses are responsible for the provision of nursing and care services to the home and its residents. In addition providing supervision and guidance to Care Assistants.
