We are a group of small animal practices based in Halifax, the Calder Valley and Huddersfield. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open seven days a week at our Halifax hospital and provide in house 24-hour emergency care.

Services
We offer a caring and professional veterinary service for your animals from our hospital in Halifax and branch surgeries in Todmorden, Mytholmroyd, West Vale and Paddock. All our surgeries offer an appointment system. When you book your appointment you will be asked the reason for your visit, this is so we can book your pet's appointment at the most appropriate time.
Here at West Mount Vets, we're very proud to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated individuals working in our friendly practice. We are all passionate about animals and their well-being, from our veterinary surgeons and qualified nurses to our essential support staff. Highly trained and caring, each of us has a role to play in making this a special practice for you to visit with your pet.
Our team of highly dedicated and experienced veterinary surgeons and vet nurses are devoted to your pet's wellbeing. Your pets are always our priority. We all have our own pets and work hard to provide the same service to you that we would want for our own much-loved animals. At our surgeries we provide continuity of care, working with you to provide effective and high quality treatment.
In the event of an emergency during our normal opening hours please call your normal surgery and you will be advised what to do next. We provide our own on-site 24 hour emergency care. If your call is during the night or at the weekend whilst our clinic is closed, please continue to contact your local surgery on the numbers listed above.

Used this vets for over 35 years but have now transferred to another. Very concerned about my cat. On Friday my son called at Bowes Yard early am and spoke to one of the vets going in. He was told to ring reception to see if he could leave the cat and hopefully there would be time during the day to examine him. He was told they were fully booked and there was no vet availability to book him in. Admittedly reception rang twice to see if I could get him to Pellon Lane now, or there would be a 30 minute slot at West Vale later. I couldn't help reflecting that if he'd been with them already he could

Sadly, after 35 years of taking different pets to West Mount the old private vets is no more.
Money more than compassion and empathy.
Advice varies and some of the operations that have been done were unnecessary or just speeded up the animal's death.
Some of the staff are lovely and helpful, others are not (excuses not solutions.)
It's been a breath of fresh air dealing with Hird and Partners.
