Services
Much to the astonishment of club officials, in 1991 the club received congratulations from the R & A on reaching our Centenary. As far as we knew, the club had been formed in 1901 and not 1891! The matter was soon cleared up when research brought up the fact that a Chester Golf Club had indeed been founded in 1891, but it had never had constitutional links with our club.
Our spacious and attractive clubhouse is the centre of all our social activities as well as the meeting place after a golf game. The main areas are our large lounge, which is the venue for all our functions, a private dining room accommodating up to 30 people, and the patio bar which contains a large television and a snooker table.
We offer excellent hospitality at an attractive location and we've got a large car park for all your guests! Our lounge has stunning views of the golf course and is flexible enough to accommodate up to 120 people and has it's own bar and dance floor. We can provide entertainment on request. Our small dining room can accommodate up to 24 people, perfect for smaller events or meetings.
Chester Golf Club has an enthusiastic membership of 750 with all age groups well represented. Each of the various sections - men, ladies and juniors - offers a full competition schedule, aimed at players of all standards. Fixtures range from qualifying competitions, knock-out competitions, inter-club matches, Bank Holiday mixed competitions and less formal fun competitions.
There are handicap qualifying competitions most Saturdays and Wednesdays from April to October and more sociable, occasionally team-based events over the winter months. The Winter League is a keenly contested league and then knockout competition, the highlight of which for many golfers is the bacon sandwich and welcome cup of tea after the first nine holes!
