The Patanjali Yoga Centre was founded by Sri Swami Indrananda Ji (Sri Indar Nath) in 1972 with a view to spreading the true message of Yoga in Great Britain and abroad. It was registered with the Charity Commission in 1982. Its aims are to advance public education in the classical teachings of the science of Yoga upon the principles of the highest standards of personal conduct and service to others.
To promote and advance for the public benefit the study and practice of and research into the therapeutic effects of Yoga as a means of improving the physical, mental and spiritual health of the community, and to publish useful results of any such research. In 1988 an Ashram was established in Battle, East Sussex to impart the classical teachings of Yoga to serious aspirants and others.

This course is experiential not academic. I myself being self taught understand the challenges which can arise and know how they can be overcome. Sanskrit is more than just letters, they are the energies of life where each letter is a different energy of the One. Pronunciation requires precision of articulation in order for the energy to arise.

He later joined the British Post Office and worked at its Headquarters for more than twenty-one years until his retirement in 1983. A great little yoga and retreat centre based in Battle near Hastings. Has a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere and is set in its own wooded grounds. The individual study bedrooms are comfortable, the sattvic vegetarian food is delicious and best of all, the teaching is excellent - world class!
The Centre offers evening yoga classes, monthly satsangs and some day, weekend and longer courses.
Great place and definitely recommended. Give it a try, you'll have a fantastic time.
