Angela Ashwin is a Yoga Teacher and British Wheel of Yoga Diploma Course Tutor with over 35 years of Yoga experience. She has taught Yoga for over 25 years and qualified as a BWY Diploma Course Tutor in 2003. Since then she has taught 6 BWY Yoga teacher training courses and regularly offers CPD courses to qualified Yoga teachers on a nationwide basis.
Most of my classes are hybrid: you can book to join at the Yoga Studio, 231a Exeter Road in Exmouth, or to join via Zoom. I also run entirely in-person classes. Group classes at the Yoga Studio are all small, with a maximum of five in person and a similar number remote. In a small group it is possible to work safely, and to give people the best chance to improve their Yoga practice.
For the Diploma course, suitable applicants should either hold a Foundation course certificate or are willing to attend an short intensive foundation training with me in a small group before the course starts. The BWY is the oldest and largest yoga organisation in the country, it has been running for over 50 years.
I am teaching a number of continuing professional development (CPD) training days for qualified Yoga teachers around the UK. I am happy to discuss requirements with groups or individuals who want sessions for example on "integrating yoga philosophy into teaching practice". I have previously run a BWY certified module on "Integrating Philosophy into General Classes".
The best Yoga teacher I've had, bar none. Having had long standing physical pain, when I discovered Angela my osteopath said "she's going to put me out of business" because of the progress I made. And she did! I've been doing Yoga for years but realise now I was not doing it well. Angela's ability to hone in on a single area where you need to adjust is fantastic.

I was encouraged to join Angela’s class about 5 years ago by my osteopath, and since then I haven’t looked back. The classes are well structured, motivating and supportive, and as well as improvements to my flexibility, I have gained a greater insight into yoga philosophy.I have been to other yoga classes in the past but Angela has enabled me to take my practice to a deeper level. I can highly recommend her

I started yoga with Angela thinking I needed to stretch but have got so much more from it. Angela is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced teacher and can spot very quickly where your body is out of alignment.
The lessons are carefully designed and always build on each other. Angela uses imagery, stories and descriptions to help us understand what we are aiming for.
The classes are always a highlight of my week. I float home afterwards.

Angela is without doubt the best yoga teacher I have studied with, and it is a many layered learning process with Angela sharing her impressive knowledge and understanding of the different styles of yoga and their philosophies alongside her clear and supportive teaching of the postures. I highly recommend her classes.

I had been looking for the right yoga teacher for many years when I first came across Angela and started going to her workshops. It is so vital to have a teacher who knows exactly how to make adjustments and is able to immediately 'read' your body and understand what needs to happen to make correct alignment. However, what I appreciate most is that everything Angela teaches is grounded in the classic Hatha yoga tradition. This is pure yoga taught with sincerity and passion.

Angela has a vast understanding of Yoga philosophy and is a very knowledgeable teacher. Her 3 hour workshops are an opportunity to get deeper into the practice and Angela intertwines theory and practice seamlessly.
I would recommend Angela she is honest, trustworthy and reliable and a truly dedicated practitioner.

I started my yoga journey with Angela. It began with one to one sessions which I really enjoyed. It soon became apparent to me that Angela is very knowledgeable and experienced with regard to both yoga practice and philosophy. I felt very safe, so I moved to yoga classes.
Angela’s ability to make everyone feel at ease, more than compensated for my self consciousness as a late starter. We are all individual in the sessions and Angela accommodates the needs of each.
I have also been to several workshops. These are brilliant and I have experienced some amazingly enlightened spiritual moments.

I have been going to Angela's 3 hour workshops. They are fantastic! Angela incorporates yoga philosophy throughout the classes and this helps to deepen my yoga practice.
The classes are small (no more than 5) and therefore Angela is able to pay close attention to all of our postures and support us with adjustments and alignments safely.
I highly recommend trying Angela's classes.

Angela's lessons are fantastic. Always thoughtfully prepared , building up in careful, deliberate stages. Angela emphasises working with full attention , increasing flexibility gradually and gently; strength comes from confidence, not force . Her lessons are underpinned by classical yoga philosophy , and her confidence that we all have a still quiet place inside is contagious.

Angela is without doubt the best yoga teacher I have encountered. She's also the most challenging, so I recommend her for people who really want to make a fundamental difference to their lives, rather than those who just want a relaxation class. Angela works from the inside out, always sharing little bits of understanding and explanation. She is able to spot just which bit of you is restricting movement and is hands on to demonstrate how to release. She knows her stuff (and my body) so well and picks up detail of what we are doing in a way that is so helpful.
