We'd love you to visit us this season to see what has been happening during months of building work and re-instating the old building. And peep into the new rooms opening in Spring 2022 through their entrances. Use our new interactive screens, enjoy updates of exhibitions, . The first tea party on Monday was a great success, and fascinating to hear from those involved in 1980.
A couple of spaces still available wednesday. Features: the "Growing for Gold" exhibition, video of local preparations for the1980 Chelsea Flower Show, hear from those who were there, afternoon tea. Being entirely volunteer run, we are always interested to chat with prospective volunteers. A wide range of opportunities are available to fit in with your interests and time availability.

Services
We are pleased to reopen the "old" building for the 2021 season, while work continues to complete the two new rooms for Spring 2022. There is no access into these new spaces during the 2021 season, but you can peep from the entrances. Dr Murray Rose, Chairman of the Trustees says The actual building phase of our Expansion Project, part-funded by the National Lottery, is now completed, with our contractors having left in early February.
This section has some recent videos and introduces some of our oral history work. We have an oral history collection of local interest, and to make this more accessible, are transcribing these and will soon start a campaign to add some new additions to the collection. In 2020 in association with the Discover Beaminster team we produced a virtual ghost walk.
The Lord Lieutenant for Dorset, Sir Angus Campbell, read his commendation letter to the Queen and then presented the award document and the glass trophy to the Museum Chairman, Murray Rose. Because of the numbers attending, the ceremony was held not in the Museum, but in the Masonic Lodge across the road and the Beaminster WI provided and served a superb tea.
Encouraging children to find out more about the area is one of our key aims. There is a huge range of local stories in our archives and some on permanent display giving glimpses into the lives of inventors, industrialists, farmers, soldiers, domestic workers and more. Plenty to inspire imaginations and be a resource for KS1 upwards (see below).
We have an active Friends of the Museum group, who gain free admission and a newsletter for a small annual subscription. Friends are the key to Museum support and are eligible to elect the committee and Trustees at the annual general meeting, usually held at year end. We are always keen to hear of ways in which we can help visitors.

Only £2 donation entrance fee. Not usually open on a Monday - but didn't realise & walked in. We received a very warm welcome. Run by local volunteers, but very professional exhibitions. Worth every penny! This year's summer exhibition features Crime & Punishment (wirh particular reference to Beaminster & the surrounding area).
